brilliant brilliant brilliant went saturday nite had lobster the full works .food top marks service top marks ambiance above top marks price very good entertainment excellent.the whole nite was just great spoke to others there and they also agreed good venue.even the owner who is in the kitchen has one of the chefs came out to everyone to ask if everything ok even the waiters where constantly asking and checking to see if we were ok. read earlier that someone went and did not like the food likened it to average english cafe. all i can say is i travelled the length of britain and frequented many a cafe and if i could find one like effendi i would have made many a detour to eat.still i suppose its down to class and what your rateings start at. keep it up effendi wont be long before you are voted top nosh in trnc. thanks rolly.

Wish we had had your experience Rolly!!! Four of us had a talble booked for 28/5 @ 8pm - got the menus at 9pm with no explanation nor apology as to why. Starters arrived about 9.30pm with main course about 10pm. Food was mediocre, had it been great then perhaps the wait would have been ok. Will defo not be back again mainly due to diabolical service. To be honest, had it been explained to us when we arrived that we might have to wait over an hour to order as they were busy, which they were, we would at least have had the option of deciding to stay or go somewhere else. However, a drinks order was taken VERY quickly so we were drinking whilst waiting for the menus. We didn't even get offered olives, bread etc whilst waiting only when they menus arrived and by that time we were all totally fed up.

we had sixty people in that night and everything is cooked to order. everyone wants to eat at 8. if it was a fast food restaurant

that would be fine.. we provided free entertainment for you. the objective in efendi is to have a whole evenings relaxation listening to music and enjoying the atmosphere. we would have provided you with bread and olives if you had told us you were starving

but it is normal practice to take the order then put bread on the table whilst your starters are being prepared. and we always like to give people at least half an hour between courses. anyway all i can do is apologiise if you didnt enjoy your evening at efendi.

also please could you advise us what food you had which was so mediocre.

and diabolical service. what do you mean by that. efendi tries to achieve an informal dining experience . and not pester our customers every five minutes with is everything all rights sir... anyway sorry you didnt enjoy..

but please reply with food ordered

How refreshing to find someone else that has had a bad experience at Effendi and not afraid to voice their opinion. Not that I ever did. Andy will know what i mean by that.

I'm confused. I've yet to read an adverse write up on Effendi's restaurant, so please explain the backlash!

Hi efendioliver - we were a bit late cos we couldn't find the restaurant - our fault entirely. To be honest our main complaint was the fact that no explanation was forthcoming and sitting there for nearly and hour before we were offered the menus was way too long in my humble opinion. The whole situation could have been very easily diffused had we been offered an explanation and apology for the potential delay rather than been left waiting 'in the dark'. To be honest, I can't remember what everyone had, but I had the melon and parma ham then the rib eye steak with peppercorn and mushroom sauce.

I understand your reaction to my post and I did stress that it was mainly the standard of service that I was commenting about. I'm confident that for every negative comment you get there will be many positive, however, if you only hear about the positive how can you then put things right when they go wrong?

Richard, I addressed my complaint to Andy on the day and he asked me not to air my grievances on the forum. I haven't and I won't.

Hi all, I agree with comment No7 we go to both these restaurants and rate them top quality for both ambience and good food and value for money, sorry to hear it was not to some peoples taste.

On another note we would also recommend the Address which has a good reputation for good food and sea view.

Was there last Sunday and despite being unexpectedly under staffed everything was served in good time and was of the usual high standard

Andy was as usual an excellent host and mingled with his customers all night and the entertainment was amazing

Will be back again soon

Ian
