I seem to remember that stags had a reputation for overheating and blowing their head gaskets. Not sure Cyprus has the climate to run a car like that. I used to run a dolly sprint and that was the same.

Maintained correctly and the addition of a Kenlowe fan, they run fine here with No problems, the owners club have even started manufacturing unleaded heads, http://www.stag.org.uk/

I saw a Stag parked outside a shop opposite The Ship hotel a few days ago. There are a number of classic cars for sale there so I am assuming it is too.

Please correct me if wrong, but do not Stags have a rubber band timing belt which needs to be changed every 20K miles, which is expensive?!

There is a Yellow Stag for sale in Kyrenia as joandjelly said. You can see it outside the tyre shop opposite Ship Inn. It is in good condition and as far as I am aware it does not have overheating problems.

I have a 1974 Stag Auto, that I brought over from the UK about 4 years ago. I have paid all the local taxes and duties.

It had a bare metal re-spray in the UK before departure and is generaly very good.

It has the original Triumph V8 (Rover/ford engines unbalance the car and are now considered undesirable). If looked after the Triumph lump is very reliable. It has a kenlow fan, but only needs this in heavy traffic and sun.

I love the car dearly but it doesn't get enough use as we live in the UK. It really needs to be used regularly.

Its parked up in Girne and was last used by me last month so will now be very dusty and look awful !

If you are interested my friend will be able to show you around her. I am over next month and will bring my electric mop and wax to buff her up. The carpets are newish, but not in the car as they get damp if left.

I can provide full details of the car and a couple of jobs that need doing to make perfect(ish) Plus help out in the future.

Interested as well a price guide would be useful. Year and Chassis Number also if possible. Presume MK2 if it the one out the ship.

Hello Mr Hood

Yes it is a 1974 MK2, I don't have the chassis number info available to me here in the UK. But it is original matching numbers on engine and chassis.

I am close to a deal with another islander and have agreed to let him have first refusal until end of June. Can't rush these purchases !

Best wishes

Phill

I have no idea of its value in TRNC, in the UK one in this condition is worth about £6k. Its good but not concours - they go for about £15k.

How would I value it ?

BurnsInSun speak to Tamer Konat at the Classic Car Club, he will be able to tell you what it is worth here. Sorry don't have his number to hand but you can search C44 for classic cars and you should be able to find it.
