Is the reset button actually on the pump or in the control panel?

This sounds like the contactor overload. If it won't reset at all, you may need a new overload. If it resets but trips again fairly quickly, it could be set at too low an amperage. There may be a small "wheel" with numbers around it and a screwdriver slot in the middle, or an arm that slides in a slot under a row of numbers. This is the Amps at which the trip operates. If this is set too close to the run current of the pump it will nuisance trip especially in warmer weather.

Hi Vaughan, your advice was spot on, Thanks. Reset the arm and all is good now. Can,t wait for the wind to pick up again so we can go fishing again, still atleast there were no other boats to bump into!!

Glad you are sorted. This is a very common fault. Contactor overloads are not really necessary if the pump supply is fused, unless you are using the normally open contacts for a "trip" light on a panel. Also pleased you enjoyed our little fishing expedition - at one point it started to get slightly rough and I thought you weren't having a good time.
