We were due to fly to the UK via Monarch airlines to Manchester on the 5th July, on Monday the flight was changed to the 4th July, I have just had another email telling me that the flight is now on the 5th July again (different time) Each time this happens we lose £40 on the train fare. So if this flight goes when it should then our train fares will be £120. It is clear when reading the terms and conditions that no compensation is payable because the change is 23 hours each time (compensation comes in after 24) How clever are they? We have been travelling with Monarch for 5 years now, but will certainly be looking at other carriers. One change is acceptable but to change it twice? Anyone else due to travel on that date? Now we leave at 1.25 in the morning and arrive in the UK at 4.35. Not looking forward to that much.

Settledhere, they might get this email from Monarch The original email you received, advising you of a flight change from the 4th July departing at 23.59 arriving at 03.20am to the 4th July departing at 01.25am arriving at 04.35am, was incorrect. This was highlighted to our change control department after being pointed out by a passenger. Our change control team has now corrected this and I can confirm that we no longer have a flight on the 4th of July and therefore you have been booked on the 5th July departing from Larnaca at 01.25am arriving in Manchester at 04.35.

Our first flight with Monarch was on the 4th July at 11.59 Our second flight with Monarch was on the 4th July at 01.35 Our third flight with Monarch is on the 5th July at 01.35 Not one of these changes qualifies for any redress whatsoever but they did offer to refund our tickets if we wished. I am a bit scared to look at my emails now!!!

Well the difficulty for me is that I do not have the tickets, I used Trainline.com and you have to pick up your tickets at the machine in the airport at Manchester. My only proof would be my debit card. Still, I can try, thanks for that. gooligan

Just had an email from monarch again telling me that they will not be charging me for changing my flights (thats the compensation apparently) - but of a ****** when they changed the flights not me Anyway, they have a company policy that where they are not legally bound they NEVER refund any train ticket costs/bus fares or anything else. Great company eh? Shame is that there is hardly any alternative nowadays to Manchester.

Monarch expect you to pay extra for normal flight comfort. My wife and I were asked to pay an extra £100 for more leg room!! Will never use them again. Art

Flying recently to Singapore, first class, on an Emirates 777ER, you know, the ones with the private suites, I did wonder what it would be like at the back on a cheap flight. Golly!! Now I know.

Flightholiday, I will certainly ask you to book for us in the future. You think you can save a few bob by doing it yourself online, but in the end is it worth it? I do not think that there are any flights for us to Manchester in December (going home) and in January when we come back. Hobson's choice I think
