taxi drivers and meter rates

We have just had a post with nany replies about how the taxi drivers are bein ghard done by.I wonder if the person who started the post could enlighten me on the taxi meter and rates ie 1 on the meter is between which times of the day.2 on the meter when does this come in to play.how is the nuber of people calculeted ie is the first fare for 2 people then every other passenger is extra.the bottom right figure seems to be 1 or 2 if 2 comes into play after 10pm why is it normally on during the day when I travel alone.I am asking this as the fares seem to vary by up to 10ytl over the same route at the same time of day.Answers please all you honest taxi drivers (taxi express)

After speaking to the beladye i have been told the only thing you need to check is that the meter is set ti 1 between the hours of 7am and 10pm.It must not be on 2 till 10pm I had 4 journeys yesterday and 3 were on 2 all before 8pm.Still quiet taxi express????? yet again a ripoff!!!!

Did not have the information till the last trip he was the one that set it correctly. When I told him what had happened he shrugged his shoulders smiled and gave me his card and said you had better use me I am honest.

Takes me back to a time when I used taxis in the centre of Birmingham. If you asked why they were on tariff 2 in the middle of the morning, they couldn't speak English!

When I complained to the council, they said there were so many cabs that they couldn't control it, even given the taxi license number.
