Nutrition shop owner Mark Connor, 30 from Bangor, Co. Down, was one of those attracted by O'Kanes promise of sandy beaches, beautiful scenery and easy returns on their investments.

Mark re-mortgaged his home and a number of rental properties to raise £46,000 to invest in a sunshine scheme. But more than two years after paying the final instalment on his fourth floor beachside pad in Famagusta, Northern Cyprus, he still has no apartment and every month he forks out £600 to service the extra borrowing he made to hand the money over to O'Kane, 55 who is from Carrowdore Co.Down.

Mr O'Connor said " O'Kane took me to Cyprus in December 2007 to show me the location and the site, describing how it would be the location for the perfect investment". The development was due for completion by 2010 but by the time the final instalment had been cashed in April 2009 I was becoming concerned about the progress of the site
