Message 1 - Terry, if you are talking about the TRNC's best selling English language newspaper, the Cyprus Today are not looking for a photographer.

If you can't spell language right, then how can you be the best selling? Just because an idiot more suited to bar work managed to convince some people with his lies, doesn't mean it's the truth.

miaoww boys, pull in your claws. I can take photos but end up in the cells, probably not quite what they had in mind. Do they have a new Editor yet at the Star?

Mr Smıth. When did I upset you ın a past lıfe? Unless you have met me personally and spent some tıme ın my company you cannot possıbly make the assumptions beıng made about 'beıng more suıted to bar work' than a journalıstıc career spannıng three weeks short of 40 years. I am emınently more suıted to newspapers than bars. Obvıously as a retıred musıcıan at 42 you have obvıously made enough money to retıre at 42 ın the TRNC. I, on the other hand, stıll need to work, so would ask you to refraın from potentıally lıbellous remarks about 'tellıng lıes'. If you were called to the bar, the judge may suggest you an call me an ıdıot but you have to prove I am a lıar. Thıs ıs why thıs forum ıs so potentıally damagıng as ıt allows barrack room lawyers to pontıfıcate whıle ıdlıng theır

Amen to message 8. Why not just be nice to each other! the weather is getting too hot for using energy in damaging directions. A bit like too many UVR's (unnecessarily vitreolic remarks) Rejoice in what you have. If you don't have to work then take compassion on those who must flal into any hole in order to pay the grocer. And if you do have to work, then rejoice in your position that you can hold without knocking anyone. good luck Nick - however long it lasts, I am sure you could be an (almost) rival to Alan Cavendir of days gone by.

Isn't this the same joker who, on another thread, says no back biting, but delighted in putting people like Stephen Day and Brian Thomas to the sword in his columns? Reap what you sow. People should look in the mirror at what they do and then start thinking about how others see them. And is the Cyprus Star the best-selling newspaper in North Cyprus? Only a few weeks ago in his page 2 drivel about his 2,000TL payrise he claimed it was. He has upset quite a few people with his vitriolic attacks, in the paper and in person, including a number of good friends of mine. But obviously he is above criticism.

Message 10. Nobody is above criticism. However, the manner and place in which the criticism is made should be chosen with proper decorum and less personal vitriol. Never a good idea to label someone a liar.

Oh my word Mr. Smith, Mr. Hudson has really gotten under your skin hasn't he. I am with Marion on this one just let it be. Although to call Mr. Hudson a liar is rather unfair even for a man of your vitriol. Cyprus Star has every right to claim it is the biggest weekly newspaper because dear dear Mr. Smith Cyprus Today is a Bi-Weekly. One supposes you understand the difference? As for Mr. Hudson upsetting your friends, one is rather reminded of a small boy in the corner of a school yard "don't you hurt my friend or I'll call you a liar" grow up dear boy for goodness sake!

Redhead, if you re-read msg 1 you'll see that it said "best selling english lauguage newspaper", no mention of weekly! So perhaps you owe Mr Smith an apology?! Nick has managed to attack and offend a great number of people (myself and friends included) during his time with the Star but I'm very happy for him and his choice of new career - at least he'll be easier to avoid now

Nick Hudson is a talented journalist who has offered the expat community in North Cyprus an alternative to the unremitting doom and gloom published by Cyprus Today. The newspaper, which susief is the photographer for, simply regurgitates stories copied from Kibris newspaper. Not long ago, 75% of the publication's staff left because a plainly unhinged news editor was allowed to do as he pleased. And I'm told he's still there. Susief and "Mr Smith": why does said news editor never speak under his own name? Over to you Mr Channing...

I don't like to get into slanging matches on this forum as I don't like to air my grievances in public unlike some, but if you'd like to contact me Jon (you obviously know who I am) then I'd be quite happy to tell you why he's not a friend of mine. Ask anyone you like but I have and will always maintain that there is room for two English language newspapers in Northern Cyprus and that it should promote healthy competition. However, there was and is no need for the constant campaign of vitriol employed by the Star against its more established and better selling rival. As I said before - I'm available off board if anyone would like to discuss the matter further.
