Hi I will be arriving at Larnaca 12.30a.m. on 17 August and would like to know which border crossing as a 24 hour insurance office. I know Metahan crossing closes at 9pm as we had problems before and the local policeman kindly telephoned insurance man to come out at 3am in the morning as we had my 89 year old mother in law with us - but don't want to take any chances! I did see somewhere that the Famagusta crossing is open 24 hours but would like positive verification of this and also driving instructions from Larnaca to Esentepe. Thanks Jen

Hi Stewart Thanks for replying so quickly and the useful information. The only reason I am concerned is that I will be travelling with my young daughter and niece and don't fancy having to sit in the car until the insurance office opens in the morning. Do I simply pull up as usual and ask for insurance and leave it to them to contact the insurance man - will they always do this? Thanks Jen

Re: Msg 4, jen 1956, ask your car hire company to do insurance for you in advance, so it is ready for you when you collect your car at airport. End of stress and worries!

Hi Just seen your message regarding car hire company doing insurance in advance, I didn't realise they could do this. I have just booked my car hire (unfortunately before seeing your message) when I get the confirmation shall I ask them to arrange insurance cover - I suppose the only details they will need other than what they already have will be my passport number - is it still 21 Euros for a month's insurance? Thanks Jen

Could you tell me whether you are hiring a car from Larnaca airport and taking it to the North. If so, I should be pleased if you would let me know how much they charge and the name of the company. Many thanks

Re : Msg 8, If this question to me, then yes, I collect the car at Larnaca airport and take it to the North. The name as stated in Msg 7 is Petsas. The prices vary through the season, look at their website, or even better contact them on info@yourway-carhire.com They also have offices in Paphos & Nicosia.
