Was woken this morning at 03.10 to the beat of the disco !!! And girls screaming and music getting louder ...and louder ...and girls screaming !!!! It continued until gone 4.00am. I thought it may have been Cratos but when i looked there were no strobe, or sky, lights at all coming from Cratos. We are behind the Grove restaurant. Does anyone know where it was coming from ? - maybe Shayna or Cornaro - i have never heard it that loud before from there. It is usually just a dull booming noise/beat. Just as i was drifting off (about 4.30am) into zzzzzland the blummin cockrel started "cock a doodle doing" which started the donkey "baying" !!!!

I too love the sound of a cockrel crowing, don't ever hear donkeys, but someone nearby has peacocks and they are quite loud, then the dogs start barking but I don't mind - living alarm clocks - better than battery operated any day!!

The dawn chorus woke me up at 4am here in the UK, wonderful, I don't mind it one bit. Went back to sleep about 5 when it went quieter.

0maintenance; No I would not care to dance at that time of the morning! I used to own a disco in Girne and well aware of the laws concerning the level sound + hours of loud of music. The residents in that area have all my sympathy - it seems there is a different law for some hotel/club owners who can buy their way through restrictions. As a Cypriot, I do not care for some rich guy getting a return on his investment! He should have taken into account the rules & regulations as well as the residents when deciding to build a noise bomb in the area! As most of the people attending these discos are Cypriots and Cyprus residents themselves, they are not exactly contributing much to tourism industry either! My advice to all those disturbed by such illegal noise is to keep ringing up the local police (ask for "adli şübe" - who have patrols in the area until the morning) and back it up by a written complaint to the district office "kaymakamlık", who issues the late late hours drinks

I certainly don't mind the morning wake up sounds of donkeys/cockerels/birds = "nature" - its a far better sound than traffic/sirens/uk noise. I just wondered why on a Weds night/Thurs morning the music should be so b***dy loud. I appreciate it is a short summer season but is that any reason for it being THAT loud !! Can't they have it loud enough for their "party people" but not so loud and so late that it disturbs "non party people" ?? If it was Shayna/Cornaro then it must be absolute hell for people who live (some all year) close to it having to put up with that noise until 4am regularly. Hopefully it will be a one off !!!!!

Kim; It will not be unless you complain to both the owners, and especially to District Office! My first lesson in democracy & freedom was "you are free to exercise whatever is within your rights, providing they do not restrict or cancel out other people's democratic rights!"

I heard the noise of that music, It kept me awake on & off untill 4.30. I thought it was Cratos but it could have been the other places mentioned, It was loud for me and I live about 1km away, what it must have been like for people living closer. I will be making my own enquiries' If anyone finds out please let me know as I will make an individual complaint.

Message 11 Corano beach/malpas disco has a 4am outside music licence for the beach disco. But shaynas licence from what i remember is only until 1am. This video taken by my friend was @ 03.50 It was the opening night for corano beach,i believe the sound was the same this past weekend. Im not a killjoy, and yes most of the guests are local cypriots and some tourists and EX pat locals,i do understand how people feel regarding noise pollution and being woke up @ such early hours of the morning, the cockeral in the shed next door is bad enough

So the problems of noise in Catalkoy haven't changed. Bar 11 was one of the reasons that made us move back to the UK. Late licences aren't necassary; this isn't Aya Napa. All bars should be banned from playing music after midnight. I'm not a total killjoy. They can stay open as late as they like; just not play music.

My friend lives in a villa right on shayna beach he says its Cornaro that makes all the noise. He went there once at about 3am to ask them to turn it down only half a dozen people there mostly drunk and asleep! No one was listening to the music.
