Rules for this thread: one-liners only with something pro & something con TRNC.



To start with some ideas:

Pro: Most of the time we have electricity. Con: Sometimes we have not.

Pro: Most of the time we have sunshine. Con: Sometimes it rains (and seldom enough).

Pro: There are beautiful old buildings in the mountains. Con: Few petrol stations in the mountains.

Pro: Most people I know here are nice and want to stay. Con: Most people who say they don't like it here stay.

Pro: We can fly to Amsterdam when and if we want. Con: There are no non-stop flights.

Pro: We love the local food. Con: More and more road advertising for British breakfast-all-day-long.

Pro; all my friends be they UK, Dutch, or TC. Con; people who overdo the going native thing. (And little Britain)



Pro; the genuine helpfullness still to be found in TRNC government offices. Con; the opposite in some cases.



Pro; the eclectic mix found in all 'Brit' bars. Con; those that look down on Brits who like their home comforts.



Pro; the Great Brits who do so much for local charities. Con; those Brits who do so much for local charities while ignoring the fact that a lot of what they are doing should be done by the government.

CONS - Its a lawless shit-tip full of liars and cheats and deluded ex-pats. Too hot in summer (july/aug) and freezing cold in your villa between Nov/april. The place is going down the pan with no direct flights, free trade, dwindling tourism and a property market / buying process akin to a comedy farce - The GC's may have lost the war, but they are continuing to have the last laugh.......



PROS - I'm having a ball in kuala lumpur - and comparing the place to the TRNC is like comparing a 74 Russet Brown Morris marina estate (with a dodgy 2nd syncro) to a top of the range Audi.....

Pro: The TRNC Bulletin Boards for good information if you ask for it. Con: A percentage of the members never ever provide any info - just senseless one-liners.

Pro: Members of the Bulletin Boards start many good threads. Con: A certain percentage only wait to join threads to backstab people (too often from anonymity in a faked Profile).

Pro: Members of Bulletin Boards who have nothing to hide fill in a reliable Profile. Con: Cowards don't.
