Please be AWARE.....



I have just received a phone call from a friend very upsetting indeed..Someone got into their villa and stole all her jewellery while she was out.She returned to find all empty boxes laying on her bed..The police seem very uninterested also..How very sad because all were very valuable and great sentimental attachment



She is not online and has asked me to say on 44..Please if you hear of or know of anyone trying to sell within the bars..use your discretion find all information and contact the police..And maybe get back to me too. I know its a long-shot ! And be aware of theft in this area.

Maybe if she had a TC friend with her when the police arrived they might have been a little more helpful ! or at least shown to look interested !



If this happens to you please make sure also that you have someone with you that is able to communicate with the police I am sure this would go a long way..JMHO..

Oh dear, how awful for your friend Spider.



The same happened to me a couple of years ago in Ozankoy, though the thief came in when we were in bed, scary stuff.



We had a TC friend who called the police for us, after first calling them ourselves and being unable to talk to any English speaker. I have to say that they came promptly, bringing one officer who spoke English and was really nice, he took my statement very efficiently.



The bother I had was when I had to go to the Police Station to collect the Crime Report for insurance, I was told that it would be ready in 5 days, problem was that at the time I went to ask for it there was no-one there who spoke English??? ' Come back yarin ' I was told 3 times, so I took my TC friend with me and behold, it will be ready 'yarin'! Next day, back again and yes it was ready but the boss wasn't there to sign it..................'Come back yarin' Losing the will to live, we went back next day and were

asked for 'the stamps'

Not that they bothered to tell us that we needed postage stamps to pay for it, so we had to go and buy those before they would give it to me.



BTW they never did find my jewellery. I hope that your friend is luckier, I do sympathise because it is a dreadful feeling to lose all your sentimental pieces and know that they are being sold for a few lire.

You will find that Hans has a very strange attitude to other peoples mis-fortune. Good friends of our had a burglary a couple of years back, his comment was in effect that our friend 'DESERVED IT' !!!

very sorry to hear of your misfortune and sadness, i hope the crooks get caught, but this is the sad state of cyprus at the moment in time, there are no real border checks so crap people keep comming in to cyprus to rob and steal from good honest hard working folk, and news like yours will become more common by the day.

the days of the good old days has gone from cyprus. yes we did leave our windows and doors open before, but now we have to have security bars and extra locks. you cant even trust your neighbors any more sorry to say. you take care be well..if there is gods punishment i wish these crooks hands and legs drop off

It is such a shame this friend has had a lot of personal difficulties at the moment and to have this happen on top of everything else is very upsetting indeed..I just hope she can home into some strength to help her over this one.

spider i was trying to be a little politically correct by saying gods punishment, i would do it my self and feed the dogs with the scrap bits, this would solve two problems in this cyprus it would stop the crooks and keep the stray and dumped dogs fed at kar.
