| Going back to the UK soon and made lots of lovely burgers/sausages for hubby for when he comes back out in a month with daughters and grandchildren. They adore BBQ foods when on holiday. I was worried that if there was a prolonged power cut or the f/f tripped out that the foodstuffs would be unsafe and looked for a low-tech indicator of this. (just a partial defrosting would make the food dangerous to ingest) Finally - after 2 weeks of mulling this over, found a way. Fill a small glass/plastic tumbler with water, place it into the freezer. Let it freeze solid. Then place a marble on the top of the ice. If when you return the marble is not sat on top as you left it but has gone into the water/ice then the f/f has partially defrosted and then you will know for definite that the meatstuffs have to be disposed of. Might be useful to someone to know this |
