Pearl have been asked to play at the amphitheatre on July 16th.

We are the 'only' British Expat' performers to be playing on the night - amongst the 'much' acclaimed Turkish and Turkish Cypriot glitterati of Rock and Pop.

In aid of Tulips (Helping those with Cancer) - It's going to be a fantastic night of entertainment with a 3,000 strong audience - (televised)

We want to make sure that the British Expat' community is well represented and 15TL is a small price to pay to attend this fantastic musical event for a mega-fantastic cause.

If you want to find out about the excellent work that Tulips do in the community, go to http://www.liverockclassics.com.

Let's go raise some money ! If you want to attend, add a comment to this thread and let's keep it at the top !

Great news, but then I know why you are booked! Not many people know that (as Michael Caine used to say), but for the life of me I cannot see what the title is actually saying. Help!

at least my comment puts it to the top, but honestly if you want people to read this and be encouraged to go on the 16th, PLEASE change the title of the thread.

The concert is being advertised on local TV at the moment hence the title ! Unfortunately, the nature of this title will get more viewings than "Pearl support Cancer Charity" (for example)

Posters go up tomorrow and tickets are available too. You can register your interest here and I will reserve tickets for you or, I believe (unconfirmed) they will also be available from Erdener supermarket and a few other places.

I hope that we get a good Expat' turnout because Tulips has helped quite a few British Expat's organising themselves when they have been diagnosed with Cancer. They provide both emotional and financial support.

This is a way for the Expat community to repay Tulips for their kindness and to boost the coffers of a very worthy cause.

Today, Gwyn and I went to see Malcolm and Ann Cox. They had devastating news recently and (with the help and support of Tulips) are fighting this horrible disease.

Malcolm is very ill but he still retains his sense of humour

which I suppose is one of the qualities that makes him so popular amongst the local community.

Many places have raised money to help Malcolm and Ann - the Paradise Bar and Soyz Bar to mention a couple.

That's what is great about the Brit's - we do pull together at times of 'great' importance.

Pearl are just glad to be able to help and hope that the Brit' community will get behind us with their support.

Cancer affects anyone and this is one of those occasions when everyone can stand together as a single community, united in a single cause - helping to raise money so that Tulips can continue in their fight against this horrible disease.

Hi Everyone, here is some more information.

Daniel and I have been to the Amphitheatre today and had a look. We have asked whether we can erect our stage, lights and PA system. I am awaiting the reply.

This is the third in a series of music concerts in aid of Tulips. The first two concerts were held in London when Bahar Gökhan (a well known and very popular female singer), sang with the Turkish Music Choir. The money that they raised at the two London concerts was used to open the hospice which is being used to take care of the patients.

This concert is going to be 'very' well attended by the local Turkish Cypriot community and is an ideal opportunity for the local British Expat' community to intigrate and show support for Tulips.

This is how the organisers of the concerts have put things to me:-

"As we are living together we would like to welcome our English friends and share this social responsibility with you."

The organisers are relying on Pearl to attract the Expat'

community to the concert and this is a big responsibility and a burden that weighs heavy on our shoulders - we need to share that burden.

Appearing on the night:

A famous singer from Turkey - Nil Burak

Bahar Gökhan

A Turkish rhythm group - Lords of The Rhythm with their dance group

A couple from the competition "Who is the most talented show"

Pearl

Let's hope that we can get a good British contingent on the night !

@ msg 21, Washerman: (...) If anyone is wondering what an "Amphotheatre" is don't worry, (...)

I'm not worrying, Washerman. It's "amphitheātron" in Greek, which the Romans in Salamis spoke some 2000 years ago.

And "amphitheātrum" by the Romans in the Western part of the Roman empire, where Latin was spoken.

Never mind. Good luck with your good cause!

I have included a copy of the program of the 16th July night's entertainment on http://www.liverockclassics.com

Here is the Facebook page of Bahar Gökhan http://www.myspace.com/biricik01

As you can see from the program, there are various other acts and entertainers, but Pearl is the Only British act - we have already received some interest for tickets - this is an ideal opportunity for the British Community to send a clear message that we are all in this together (the fight against Cancer)

I think this could be the concert of concerts this summer,if it is televised as mentioned this is going to be a great plug for the TRNC.

It is about time this island was put on the map for all the good it does for charity and helping needy people.

Good on you guys.

I have emailed the organisers and requested answers to the questions that you have asked, but I have received posters and a 100 ticket allocation (30 of which are already sold)

I understand that large banners and posters have already gone up in Girne.

I think that it is going to be a total sell-out so, reserve your tickets either: by posting a message here or, by visiting http://www.liverockclassics.com and completing the form

Tulips really is a great cause that benefits everyone and is helping several Brit's at the moment

C'mon let's take a crowd !
