Are we going to church to see the colours or to pray?

Why mention colours? The priest is usually black and that is not really a colour,

nor is white.

I took my R.C friend there last year as she fancied going to Mass. Many folk had to sit outside

in the March sun, so get there early to get an inside seat, as it is very small. I (as an agnostic

brought up C of E and Presbyterian) endured it, and it was quite interesting, and my friend

told me it was a very dated kind of service - I wouldn't know.

I wonder what the definition of "very dated" is. I haven't heard anyone comment about that before. Any regulars out there care to clarify as I'd be interested.

It is good for Christians to remind themselves from time to time that Jesus was not a white honkey, but a good honest Yiddish lad for his Jewish mum (and Dad). reminds me of a sunday School chorus about |Jesus loving all the children of the world 'red, and yellow, black and white, all are precious in His sight - jesus died for all the children of the world'. And we are all big kids, so........ I rest my case.

Great you have a map. Hope you find it O.K. I used to go there over 20 years ago with one of the friars who was not black, but Irish american! That was before GAU and the many students who go there. I think there is more life now, but maybe of a different kind -good stuff. Enjoy! elizabeth of Hungary was a great lady and so is the church dedicated to her!(When I went it was the Terra Santa - maybe my presence took the santa out of the terra!)

It's a lovely little building with a real feeling of a 'universal church' about it ....hip youths, too, dressed up to the nines not afraid of their peers thinking 'it's not cool'!

What religion? Christianity? islam? Buddhism? Hinduism? Religion will always be with us while mankind inhabits this planet but its form changes. So what do you mean Philbailey

Guss this has gone a bit off thread! I could do you a thesis on this, but won't bother. Did you know that even communism is a 'religion'. christiianity will be with us for a long time, but what people actually believe within that can change. If you judge Christianity by the two churches here, youwould think it is very much aliive and well, but if you look at some of the churches in U.K, you could think the oppossite.

I don't know myself what my friend meant by "dated" - but she is a regular church-goer back here.

There were a great man "Hail Marys" I noticed! I will ask her when I come back in 2 weeks.

From all this correspondences I still can't see where or why colour came into it. Surely 'people of different nationalities' would describe it much better?

Now, if you had separated out the 'Welsh' I would have understood it.

What a shame message 31. I lived there for many years and met some absolutely wonderful people. as my dear old Mum used to say 'There is good and bad in every race!' and I guess that applies to we english as well. But from a Christian point of view I always find it a relief that the 2nd commandments is for us to LOVE our neighbours and not necessarily to LIKE them.

tee hee.
