.com domains are more important for google. when you search for kyrenia properties on google, if the kyreniaproperties.com website is available, then google shows it in first page on first line. because of the search querry and the website address are match ;)

msg1 logic is good as far as it goes. If you are interested in setting up a Kyrenia based property company then having the domain kyreniaproperties.com is an asset, much more so than kyreniaproperties.co



Will such a domain ensure sucsess ? No it will not, no more than having a good office location will, but it can certainly help.

Like I say 0maintenace if you are interested in speculating on domain registration best to speak to someone who has done it I would say. Like washerman for example. Generaly speaking you need to understand what has potential value, what the different kinds of domains are and be early. The people who registered domains like business.com early made money, even much later but still 'earlier' registrations of things like cyprus.com were shrwed moves. Just registering late almost anything you can think of generi startig with north-cyprus-[put in generic terms here].com is no where near as shrewd a move.

As for domains like the .xxx or the .mobi, you need to understand how and why these were created and who controls them and appreciate that they have come into existance 'late' in the game and why therefore the opportunites for speculation are massively less than with the orginal .com domains.

If you look at you first page on google for the search term you give do any of them show a .co domain ? The exact way google ranks and lists non add paying sites on a given search terms is complex, not public information and a moving target. However it is well understood and well know that having key word terms within the domain name itself helps to push a domain up the rankings. It is not the only factor but it is one of the more understood ones. Just see how many on the first page have such.



I really do not understand what your 'point' was. If the point was that estate agency in the TRNC atm is not a good business to go into, you would have no comment from me. BUt to say that kyreniaproperties.com is not a useful domain to have if you are going into that business and suggesting a .co version is the same, then you will get comment from me because you are not right.

Philbailey I do not think the poster in msg1 was suggesting the domain had significant value in and off itself or was suggesting selling it as such. He was suggesting, as I read the post, that having such was useful asset in terms of the business he was proposing. I agree that it is useful, similar to having a good location for an office. It is not the be all and end all of such a business but I think it made sense to mention this assets when seeking potential investors. It not a massive thing but it is a plus vs having no domain at all or having the .co version of it.
