Just got out of my car to come indoors and was greeted by a friendly tan coloured boxer dog (I think). Wearing a blue collar and a disc with SAM and some numbers which I can only assume is a microchip number.

Well looked after and a happy dog. Couldn`t bring him in because i have a GSD and two cats which would object. Live in Karsiyaka, beach side near the park restaurant (road down to the sea). He may have just escaped or gone for walkies.

Sam has been in the Sempati area of Lapta for approx 3 weeks, he was a regular at JK's bar as well. He has been wandering for a while now and we have been unable to find his owners despite neighbours putting up posters at Hos Bes and Starling! He is a good dog approx 8-9 years old. We all came to the conclusion that he had been dumped by Brits as he definitely responds to commands in English.

Brits are becoming as bad if not worse than locals when it comes to dumping lately. I'm not how microchipping works in relation to information, but any chance someone can look at the number and then perhaps check with the Vets in Girne. KAR should be able to explain what information is contained on a microchip. Someone has been prepared to spend good money if they have gone to the expense of microchipping. However the numbers could be a telephone number. That's what I have on our dogs name tags.

I thought that but it didn`t look like a phone number. I had bags full of shopping, no pen or paper and my dog was doing his natural. When I cam back he`d gone. If I see him again, will grab him and take down the number. Mx

He`s come back and managed to get the number on his collar. 603721 which does not seem like any telephone number I know. Am going to ring KAR if I can get through and see what they say. I believe they have a database for chips.

Looking at my animals` microchip numbers this number is not long enough. Any ideas anyone. I can`t possibly take him as we are renting and already have my german shepherd and two cats.

I heard this morning that Sam had been re-homed at Sempati just recently, so guess he hasn't settled. Maybe you could contact Sempati since they really need to keep him in for a while until he accepts his new home.

Went to get him and take him back to Sempati, but he must have guessed. Lovely dog though and beautiful nature. Hope he gets another chance.

Not sure what tel numbers you have for KAR.The KAR office (0533 8694098) is not open at weekends or after 5pm weekdays - maybe that is why the phone was not answered. Although they do have an answer service for messages. They are the ones that have the details/database on microchips.

Sam was at Sempati again this morning, not sure if he is still here as I can't see him now, but he does not belong/been re-homed by Sempati, he just keeps turning up here.

I'm now assuming along with other people, that he has been dumped. So if anyone would like a very friendly boxer dog feel free to take him home.

I suspect you'll find that 603721 on his collar is a UK phone number minus a code number. Which makes me think that he may have been brought over here, particularly as you say he seems to understand an English voice. BTW, do any South numbers start with a 6?

Unthinkable that someone would bring a dog over from the UK, going to all that trouble and expense and then just dump him....this poor dog obviously just needs a permanent home with someone who can love him. Probably time to forget looking for his original owner, he has been wandering the streets for long enough, that they would have realised he was missing and tried to find him by now if they wanted him back.

I hope that someone can rehome him, I had a boxer for 11 years and she was wonderful, a real character. If I didnt already have so many bloody animals I would have considered taking him!!!
