Never seen it but as a fish "affishionado" ( pardon the pun) I think the fish available on the Island is very limited. Seem's ro me it is mostly Cipura Leverek and a bit of Red Mullet ( which is delicious)

As opposed to Lobster which is a gorgeous looking bottom feeder?

Are you a fish fascist?

Monk fish are really good as a substitute for prawns if you are allergic to them as when cooked in small strips it's very like the texture and flavour of king prawns...

I would like to know where monk fish tails can be bought... Can't stand to look at the face as I am a fish fascist...

Nige there is a fish mongers on the road just past that lovely Italian store that sells the lighting (heading towards ???? uhhmmm a set of traffic lights and then a roundabout where you can turn right towards Catalkoy). Anyway just after the lighting shop and round the bend there used to be a sign outside selling all this fish. Someone said to me it was a fishmongers and you need to go down a little path to get to the place. Have a look in there. Or there is another place that sells fish next to the Old Bazaar. Its frozen though.

Monkfish is available in certain places but only frozen as it is a cold water fish and not found in the Med, it was widely used as a substitute for Scampi in UK till the practice was outlawed it has been available frozen in Bells Alsancak, in the past.

BHW is trying to explain how to get to Hurdeniz, their NEW shop is on the main road 150metres before the Lefkosa roundabout approaching from east, also try in Gazimaguza, Lemar or Belca if it is still open.
