Very much into Indonesian cooking now, all other ingredients are available but not been able to find these. Have to wait until a friend is coming over which can take ages. Anyone know where these may be available? please nicely.

Lemon grass grows well here and Lime trees are few and far betwen but they are here (in Lapta). They do need a bit of extra care in the colder months though.

Kaffir Lime leaves are available in Alphamega. Blue Elephant sells them. You could substitute lemon rind! I bought 20 kilos of limes, sliced them and froze them. Good for Thai cooking and Mojitos. Alphamega also sells Tamarind fruit.

I have just bought some Lemon Grass plants at Babel Garden Centre and they look real good. Will visit Alpha Mega on Friday and try and get the Kaffir Lime Leaves. I did use grated lime peel in the last dish and it worked out fine. But will definately get hold of a lime tree this year.

Once the lemon grass gets bigger you can divide the clump into smaller pieces and they will all start growing again.. I have lots growing now! Have also planted a Lime tree & today I have planted 4 Kaffir Lime Seeds which I don't hold out much hope for but fingers crossed Planted a bulb or Ginger & that is doing well so next will be Galangal & Turmeric- worth a try

Went to Alpha Mega Store, got Lemon Grass and Galangal and fresh limes, but they had run out of Kaffir Lime Leaves. But will try again next week as it is the only missing ingredient. They also do small tins of coconut cream as well as the large cans of coconut milk. I thought I would get the cream to thicken the sauce a bit.
