Was out sea fishing today, east of Girne. My friend caught 2 more than me, "0" Took a photo, don't know what it is, Anyone know, see link, http://www.flickr.com/photos/31705736@N06/ Also, can anyone recommend good fishing spots in the TRNC, coarse, coast or boat, & BAIT And types of fish that can be had throughout the year. Have transport. Was snorkeling yesterday in the sea past Tatlisu, saw some small garfish about 100 yards out, and other friends caught mackerel yesterday while out in a boat near the Mercure Casino. Saw a small tuna being caught there as well in September. So we know there are some fish about. Any fishing info greatly appreciated Thanks' in advance Navek

yes we would also be interested in this information as we will be sailing from finike to Girne tues.- weds. In June/ July we caught 3 - 4 kg spanish mackrel off the north coast (that is what we think we caught). It was unexpected because we thought the Med would be empty. And now you say there are fish to be caught now in November? If this post is still posted when we get to Cyprus I will let you know if we catch anything.....

Hi Navek, Now that you mention it...there was some odd red thing that fell out of its mouth just as we hoisted it into the cockpit, but I didn't manage to read the nationality..... and thanks for your good wishes for our crossing...... tonight has seen the opening of the new porthole here..... haven't been to Kaş yet, but will do that next spring when we come back to get the boat ready to sail back up to Norway cheers

Hi Blackpoolfan, re permit, As far as I know, you need a permit, not sure if this covers all fishing. Only recently discovered that you should have a permit for sea fishing. Not sure if this is a "red herring" or not. Good luck with the carp. Navek

Hi Blackpoolfan, Found this.... Angling in Reservoirs According to the revised Fisheries Law Cap. 170 of 1990, the Fisheries Regulations of 1990, Regulation 12, special licenses must be obtained for those interested in angling in dams from the Head Office of Fisheries Department and Marine Research in Lefkosia or from the District Offices of Fisheries Department Follow link......... http://www.northcyprusonline.com/North-Cyprus-Online-Entertainment-fishing.php

yes it does say you need a licence to fish the fresh water reservoirs but there is more chance of osam bin laden walking into wigan cop shop to hand himself in than you get asked for your fishing licence! have any of the locals fishing the lake we fish got a licence? i dont think so. anyway they dont catch owt they havent got a clue or the gear to catch these carp. its a waggler job with hair rigged corn , also feeeder but snaggy in some pegs . tight lines andy

Navek, you want to spend less time fishing and more time getting your deeds from your builder. Sorry to sound so negative... Nick
