Have taxi prices increased?

We are looking to leave our car at home and go by taxi from Ozankoy to Ercan. The "talk" was that a taxi would cost £40 return? Maybe we have lost touch, we had three quotes today for £30 each way. Seems a bit steep to me!

Fuel prices have rocketed here over the last 6 months,so it's logical that the fare will go up as well.



Just remember that there is one price for the yabanci and another for the Kibrisci....

We use a taxi service and are always looking for a good taxi firm, but your posts all to annoying ....

Beware of chancer taxi drivers at Ercan!

I came back from Istanbul on Friday evening having spent 7 hours in Ataturk on my own after hubby flew the other way to work.

I had every intention of getting the bus, but when I landed in Ercan, I would have had to wait another 2 hours for one to take me to Girne and Id had enough by then I just wanted to get home.

I was approached by a taxi driver, so I asked him for a price to Alsancak.

He quoted me approximately 150tl!!!!

I told him to forget it I would wait for the bus.

Then he said, well how much will you pay?

I know that my local car hire guy charges £25 so I told him that, and suddenly, the price dropped to just that price!!!!

Just shows you!

Please note we are not pirates like some and prices have increased because fuel has and the guys that go for cheap are not licensed thats why they go for so cheap but if you where to get caught in that vehicle you would miss your flight for sure trying to explain to the old bill why...
