Hope it all goes well, did the same the end of May and so far not regretting a single thing. Some fun, electricity board, police station, trips to the port etc, but all entertaining. Lovely place and lovely people x

Fantastic place, lovely people, we really love it here, you will find that August is the worst month of the year for heat so hope you can adapt, as someone mention there's lots of adventures getting sorted here and you have to go with the flow.

Those that can't blend in and accept the local ways are the wingers and moaners who should take their sorry selves back to the UK.

Lay back, don't rush and enjoy, have a fabulous time on this wonderful island.

Thanks again Patara and Halffull - we have visited TRNC a few times previously in July/August and yes it was very hot - hard to imagine that now we are sat in doors on a cold and wet miserable morning in July grrrrr!

We also found the local people to be very friendly, helpful and welcoming !

Hi Becky, we moved here 18 months ago, loving it. The place does have its pitfalls and red tape, but take it in your stride and enjoy all this island has to offer. Good luck.

Good luck with the move Becky....agree with the majority of posts, you'll love it here, biggest problem is the time goes far to fast.....never had such a great social life and to be honest all the official stuff you will have to do is not as bad as it seems, just go with the flow.

You will be okay here Becky, all the best people live in Lapta (and nearbye).

Only one piece of advise I can give, and that is learn to be patient at everything as nothing happens very quickly here. It took me almost a year to settle whereas hubby fell into the Cyprus way almost immediately as men do.

Safe journey.

Becky 123 hope you enjoy lie in Cyprus many brits did the move to Spain in the eighties many enjoyed it but the sensible ones kept a base back home so they could escape back home if they needed to. Many people did move back but those who did not keep a pad back home were unable to bridge the differing property prices. Of course some moved back for health reasons and the fantastic NHS.

Having spent some time over the years at both “ends” I do find that the majority of people whom I have met are very nice.

I note that Nurseawful is indeed a nurse from the many informative posts she has made. Maybe she made everyone better at her end.

I do favor the East end as it is a lot quieter and there doesn’t seem to be so many yahoo types who visit.

That is why we will probably choose to spend our time there, maybe around the Esentepe area, as the bars and eateries seem less crowded with visitors and have more local trade.

Jackson.

There is most definitely at least one “yahoo” type down this end but she is keeping her head down just now.

Good luck with your intended move.

Becky I have just looked at your profile, I am sure we will meet up as I see you are a HV. Certain times of the year there are not enough nurses to go round and you will come in very handy.

In the meantime anything I can do to help when you arrive just phone me.

Chris

We moved to Karsiyaka a year ago and have had a great year. Love the style of life here and there is so much to get involved in if you want to. Good luck with the move Becky, and the other posters who are just making the move too.

Our container arrived in September and not a hitch, although 8 o'clock at night arrival was challenging as I had no outside lights (they were in the container) to put up for them and no street light in the right place.

As other posters have said, go with the flow and you will love the place as much as you obviously have when you have been here on holiday.

that's good to know Chris, we are moving as other half has job there, but not myself, but wanted to wait few months to give time for our girls(2 and 7) to settle in at school, new area etc. Yes am registered adult nurse, but also did my HV training 3 yrs ago so have worked as HV since then.

Thanks for number, yes will contact you after we arrive with many questions lol, you may regret giving me your number : ) !
