| Hi there, wanted to post the link to our new page on our site - educational videos about Renewable Energy. You can watch there how On Grid and Off grid systems work, basics about photovoltaics and even informational videos about Zero Energy Houses. We have collected these information from youtube and put the best together. Also: New designed is the service section where you can read about all possible RE applications we offer. Videos: http://www.personngroup.com/x/education.html Services: http://www.personngroup.com/x/cyprussunenergy/services.html Have a sunny day, regards Henrik from http://www.cyprussunenergy.com - http://www.kibsolar.com BTW: OnGrid Photovotlatic Systems can produce cheaper electricity than KIBTEK! | I think you will find that Simbas has heating solar panels for hot water. I have tried to explain in laymans terms several times on previous postings that these are totally different from photovoltaic panels! nunu |

thats the usual way.. solar= is not solar I know many get confused, I even found a building company in TRNC which advertises to have solar - thermal - photovoltaic panels on the roof.. They produce hot water and electricity.. I mean, these kind of modules are beeing produced but the are not used in cyprus, it would not make much sense.. Let me see if I find the link to the building company...

Kibsolar The videos and links were very interesting/ informative. I notice on your website you indicate you have some form of passive solar heating/ cooling system. Is it practical to retrofit the typical Cypriot property in this way and in ballpark terms how much would it cost for a small 2 level 2 bedroom bungalow/ villa. Aussie

hi aussie, if you plan to redesign a house, many things need to be considered. mountain side, hill side, north, south direction, environment, inclusive "active" solar heating or not, incl PV power or not, how much is the budget and more... and whether that is "practical" has to be decided as well... its for sure "a project" and nothing you can take out of a shelf in a supermarket. in general you can say: doesnt matter how much you invest, you will have your money in approx 5 to 10 years back, depends in what condition your house is and what kind of techniques at the end will be used.... kibsolar

I think folk are still confusing solar water heating which it seems many do have with Photovotaic Panels which produce electricity which can be used very well for underfloor heating as can Air source heat pumps (much easier to retro fit than PV IMHO) you can also store the energy in Batterys to use later ect (in the UK much in sent back to the grid) As a rule of thumb you need 30% of the sq area of the (inside area) of the home on the Roof as PV and solar to supply CH and hot water

yes, most people dont know the difference, but this is no big deal. This is also the reason why we have educational videos on our webpage, so everyone who is interested can see how things work. Photovoltaic panels produce electricity. Solarthermal panels - as 90% of TRNC houses have, produce more or less, hot water.. To use Photovoltaics for underfloor heating is not a good idea as you have enormous heatloss if the ground where you heat, is not properly prepared. In cyprus, rather have a good isolation and keep the heat OUT in summer and the warm IN in winter is much more energy efficient than underfloor photovoltaic heating.. The idea of heatpump combination is good as you can use the heat to help to cool in summer.. lots of good ideas around but not enough knowledge of people to install this.. What people love to do is to complain about high running costs.. If infos are searched and taken serious and applied when buying or building new homes, life could be so easy... Regards, Henr

Kibosolar I would be very interested to meet you when I come out to cypus early next yr and any other like minded people I am very interested in your eco house and the zero cost house if we could design and cost that type of thing to inclue the grey water as well as other cost saving things we might be able to sell it as a Zero cost community back here in the uk

yes you can, but you dont get paid for what you feed into the grid, you can only reduce your own bill. if the prices rise more it will even make sense without feed in tarif.. I am off for an short weekend brake, will answer all other questions from monday..

lol thanks for that yes i did enjoy it I think some stuff is "lost in Translation!" You know O was suprised about the PV not supplying underfloor heating in TRNC as i have read and reread all the articals and information I have which I will agree is for the UK market but they all say the same that it works at it optimum when used for underfloor heating system Perhaps it is the differing floorslab types here it tends to be a suspenden block and beam type which can be insulated now we have to adhere to part L of the new building regs I dont suppose you have a link to TRNC building regs as i can only find the Mainland of Turkey ones

I dont think that there are usable TRNC building regs.. But who knows, ask some of the quality builders, there should be some here "on board" and read this forum also.. would be very interesting..

we have an "online shop" and a depo as our office on the mainroad was closed most of the time, due to beeing to bussy. our website is: http://www.kibsolar.com and also http://www.cyprussunenergy.com - emails, skype etc all in the contact section.. some nice pictures in the reference section. I think contact and webpage info is also on this board - if you click my forum name. Regards, Henrik
