Lidl in UK used to sell a red for about £1-50 a bottle. I think it was called Count, or Baron Romero. My favourite wine ever.

I'nt being common great, 'n cheap. Or if you prefer, being cheap, common.

Wife bought me a bottle for Xmas (in Amsterdam) and still not allowing me to drink it until she cooks a decent meal. Could be worth a fortune one day...............as an antique.

ayebrox,

In 2006 I sold a bottle of 1966 Petrus and cleared over a £1000. Having lived in Italy I like your choice of Barolo but it would never be worth a bottle of Petrus.

Nowt like a good bottle of Vino Collapso.

Seriously.

South African reds, Meerlust Rubicon and Boschendal Lanoy. Both Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blends.

Great with a big juicy steak.

To all who enjoy a glass of wine and to those who dont and are seen with a bottle of water in their hand.As Ben Franklin said;In wine there is wisdom,in beer, freedom,in water there is bacteria. In a number of controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 litre of water each day,we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli (E coli)-bacteria found in faeces,in other words,we consume 1 kilo of poop. However,we do not run the risks when drinking wine and beer (or tequila, rum whiskey or other liquor)because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.Remember,WATER=POOP, WINE=HEALTH. therefore its better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of shit..

No need to thank me for this valuable info,im doing it as a public service.

oh and i only drink white wine and it tends to be Villa Deluca

A very rich and deep red wine from a small vineyard in France. The wine is called "Piggaso" and was only available via the Times Wine Club. Last I had of it was in 2004 but the memory and the taste lingers on.......

Re : Msg 12,

Yes, Lilli, Chablis - always!

Re : Msg36,

Interesting that you should mention Pigassou!

I buy it from Laithwaites Wine. I had two bottles only a couple of weeks ago.
