chinaeyes,

We were there about a month ago and it was a difficult drive. There were 4 people in the car and 3 of us had to get out of the car at one point and walk up the hill in the heat. If your car is low to the ground I certainly wouldn't risk it. This of course is just my opinion and I am sure others will tell you different.

So how far do you have to walk? there is a funeral on Tuesday and I am sure that folk would like to know whether they need to scrounge lifts from friends with 4 wheel drives, walk, or what. And if one has to walk, not only how far is it, but where does one leave one's car?

Thanks for any info anyone can give.

My advice would be, scrounge a lift in someones 4x4. This cemetary is in a lovely spot but is difficult to get to.

I was told that they will eventually tarmac the road up to it, which will then make it a much easier drive.

I believe that you can no longer access the road by the dirt track next to the army camp. Entrance if coming from Girne is approx 50yards before the roundabout. If coming from Lapta end you will have to go to the first set of lights and come back on yourself.

For Marion message 3,

There is a small car park at the cemetary so once you get there it,s not too far to walk.

We have a Honda Fit, and found the drive up there quite difficult, if you take it easy and the car is not overloaded you should make it up there.

We have just driven up to the cemetery in our saloon car, the track is quite driveable without the use of a 4x4, only a couple of places where some larger rocks are exposed in the middle of the track.

thanks, but I don't think I want to risk my one and only vehicle, so I have found a kind soul to give me a lift. I understand that others are making the same arrangement. As I haven't been up there before, I am a bit wary. But if once I have been I can say something positive, then I will.

thanks all of you - relaly appreciated.
