I watched three or four matches from this year's tournament and I have to confess it is so much more enjoyable watching the women play. Admittedly they don't quite yet play with the control of their male counterparts, but they make up for that in many other ways; hardly any feigning of injuries, no diving, very little arguing with the ref and and plenty of smiling faces: Yesterday the USA and Japan served up a gourmet 120-minute final of non-stop action … and good sportmanship. I sincerely hope that as more money enters the sport, the women don't adopt the attitudes and antics present in the men's game.

All very disappointing, they didn't even swap shirts at the end of the matches! Bad sportsmanship in my opinion! Richard

I was amazed to see how much progress women's football has made in recent years. Shame the match officials were only Premiership standard ! 3 Yellow cards for one team in one match for tackles which were not even worthy of the penalty of a free kick. An offside given in the final denying a player a goal scoring opportunity when clearly onside by a matter of yards.
