Thankyou so much to ALL of you who found time to attend. The ascent to the cemetery can be a little daunting! Thanks particularly to those who contributed both written and spoken memories. Special thanks to Marion Stuart who 'officiated' so professionally and to Harry Fellowes and his team who managed the ceremony and looked after us all so well.

What a truly wonderful send-off it was for such a special man. The tributes produced applause, laughter and plenty of tears,-- Rog would have loved it ,but may have been somewhat amazed at

the high regard in which he was obviously held by so many friends.

Our sincere thanks to you all for joining the celebration of Rog's life and for all your kind messages and tributes, but especially to Marion who co-ordinated the whole thing so splendidly.

More thanks are due for the kindness and compassion of so many of you during the last difficult months. Rog really appreciated your visits and your messages. Again, very special thanks to Chris who came for many months, and her team who joined her more recently, and finally thanks to the BRS Committee for their contribution, and to Harry Fellows and his colleagues for their kindness and a well organised day. Much appreciated.

405TL was raised for Help Those with Cancer/Tulips----thank you all. Enid

a wonderful man, whom I am sure was looking on with , as Enid says 'amazement' at realising how loved he was. My thanks to all those who shared their thoughts about this true 'gentleman' .

But I do have a complaint to make - sorry~! No one passed the hat round to me, or the 405tl could have been more.

And can I have a photo shot of the handover?

I hope that all who were there will, as asked , now live their lives with the same qualities as Roger exhibited, although I strongly suspect they are such nice, caring people, they are doing it already.

sorry, the above got duplicated. But this is a call for help! |I am putting together all the tributes that were part of today's ceremony, but since then another ocuple have been received. I want to give it to Enid, so, if there are any of you out there who wish to contribute, could you put it on here and I will pick it up, and include it. No rush, as I won't be doing this for a while.

thanks in advance for anyone who did not get around to posting before but who wish to do so now.

Thank you all so much for giving my grandad so much love and support in his last few months and thank you for supporting my grandma through this tough time. Dandy was a very special man to me. I have heard that a book is being made with all the lovely messages, I did send one to my uncle which was read out on my behalf. If you need a copy though do let me know. Lucy

tHANKS lUCY, except I read out your name as 'Lukey' - is that a nick name. I have got a copy of what you wrote which was so emotional that Stuart could not read it, so I did. Hope I did you justice as I have not met you. Hope we do meet some time - what you wrote was a real tear jerker. thanks so very much. every blessing.

Now does anyone else have anything to say?

lukey was what dandy called me. his little lukey. uncle stuart did say that he couldn't read it. my message came from the heart. he was a very special man. i hope to come to cyprus very soon and it would be lovely to meet you all. i hoped to come over earlier so dandy could meet his first great grandaughter who is now 13 months but she has been too young to handle a long flight. but we will all be over soon. it has been so nice to read all these messages, i had no idea how popular he had become over there.

How sad that roger could not meet his 13 month old great grandchild, but life can be fraught with disappointments - none more so than his not reaching his 80th birthday (I mean in U.Uk you get an extra 25p a week pension!)

Your grandad was popular because he was a gentleman of the first order. I don't think anyone ever disliked him which says a lot about what he was!

And when you come over, I do hope we meet. I want to see what Little Lukey looks like>? And I would love to see the wee one.

Actually, it is a shame that no one videod any of the ceremony or comments. didn't think of it, and it oculd have been a bit of an intrusion, but Grandma will share all about it with you, I am sure, when she meets up with you next.

Only 5 years ago talking to Monica (Roger's sister) at our local art club in Eastbourne, and saying we were about to purchase an apartment in Lapta, she told us of her brother who lived in North Cyprus. The outcome of this, he and Enid only lived 5 minutes away!! We have been firm friends ever since, we loved their company, lots of swimming and trips to so many out of the way places, always funny and knowledgable, a really lovely couple. We shall miss Roger so much, an inspirational man, a little older than us but a lot fitter!! A pleasure to have known him.

I'll send Marion some of the latest pics of little Lukey and family, so she's well prepared.

Love you Lu.

Hello Terry and Sylvia, So pleased you've been able to read some of the wonderful tributes, and many thanks for yours. I shall e.mail a copy of Marion's obituary, which again, says it all about our very special Roger. Love. Enid
