Hi there we have just sold our villa and bought one just up the road. The person we bought of has had the electricity cut of. I presume that the meter is still there. Does anyone know how long it takes to get reconnected???? Ben

Usual method of disconnection is removal of the big fuse housed next to meter... but some other bright spark who had been cut off may have nicked it.. Go to Kibtek in Girne and put the new bills into your name and see if the disconnection was for a genuine reason...

If the fuse is missing it may still mean that Kibtec took it (though they will say it's been stolen). Replacement fuses cost £25 from Kibtec. We had to go through this process in August for a friend when she bought an apartment. Kibtec say bills had not been paid so electricity cut off. We paid reconnection charge of 52ytl and then paid for new fuse. Went to collect the fuse from the Electricity place by the Wednesday market (Kibtec said it could take up to 2 weeks for the fuse to be replaced which is why we went in person). By the time we got back to the apartment Kibtec had been and replaced the fuse with a cable. The following week, the cable was replaced with another new fuse so we now have a spare one!
