I tend to agree with PtePike. (Not often I do that!). There is no real news in any of them, or they are just propoganda pages for certain Construction Companies.

Censorship even extends to TRNC BBs never mind - I can make my point even better now: Reporters without Borders placed North Cyprus 53rd in press freedom Turkish daily Todays Zaman newspaper (23.10.08) reports the following: Journalists in Turkey enjoy less press freedom than 102 other countries in the world, a media rights group said Wednesday. The Paris-based Reporters without Borders said Turkey was ranked 103rd in its global press freedom index, which it released yesterday. Last year Turkey ranked 101st on the same list. Reporters Without Borders has also severely criticized Ankara for the level of press freedom in the country, citing with particular concern the murder of Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink by a nationalist gunman in January 2007. Its current rating puts Turkey behind countries like Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Mali, Liberia, Tanzania and Madagascar. The group also rated Turkish Cyprus, placing it 53rd in this year's global index of press freedom.

kibsolar, I tried my best to help you! It depends what you are looking for in a magazine. As someone who works in the media I'd say none of them are very good and some are appalling. A lot of that's due to the fact that no trained journalists or fetaure writers are prepared to work for the money offered in the TRNC. So you get amateurs advertising stuff.

Sorry P.Pike. there are trained journo's and feature writers here. Most magazine's here are 'browsers,' mainly for light reading. I thought Cyprus Living - which is better than most - was the only one you had to pay for, all the rest should be complimentary.

Groucho: "On which street corner are you selling the Big Issue these days? ;¬)" Hey, don't knock it. Big Issue pays top whack to contributing writers so I'm not complaining. One of the few magazines to do so.

jacktheladette: "Sorry P.Pike. there are trained journo's and feature writers here." Seriously? People who are NCTJ-accredited or have completed a recognised degree or course in journalism, followed by real experience? Please tell me who they are, as I've never heard of any. Sub-editor's blue pencil for the misplaced apostrophe, BTW. ;-)
