OK, its in the South, but it is the best on the Island and where fish and chips are concerned their are no boundary's and race, creed and color are not even considered. It is time - or so my taste buds tell me - to make the annual pilgrimage to the dark side to partake of my favorite food.

Now the problem - I have been reliably informed that this establishment is closed for the first two weeks of August every year and my plan was to go in the first week of August - pensioners need to plan ahead! - so it could well be a total disaster to spend the 25 Euro's on insurance plus the fuel to get there and find it shut.

Has anyone any firm information on the Lambros/Cessac annual holiday period please????

Email me if you wish to hide the fact that you travel to the South because their fish and chips are better - I know I will come under fire for doing it myself - but then again I live here all the time and it is an Island for us all.

waddo - i agree about the fish and chips BUT not the takeaway fish and chips. We had to go to AN to drop someone off 2 weeks ago and called in Lambros (the one on the beach) on the way back. Got 2 cod'n'chips and 2 haddock to eat at home . I knew it wouldn't be the same as eating them fresh but the fish was awful. It was all overcooked and oiley and tasted as if the oil was off. It has been ages since we have had such c**p fish. All 4 of us agreed it was rubbish. We were so disappointed after we had been so looking forward to them all the way home.

Still would go back but will eat in all the time now.

I didn't see any signs up to say they were closing for summer hols.

the2ofus,

Had the same thing myself and always eat in on the yearly visit now. I think they just take the "ready" fish for take away instead of cook to order as normal - the trip back and sat in the oil did not help one bit. Won't stop me going again myself.

I don't think they bother posting a notice of closure as "everybody" already knows it is shut the first two weeks in August - gloom..........

Carollynne,

Many thanks for the information. Sad about the Internet center, email us and let us know what is happening next? Must get together again when this hot weather grows a bit cooler - have had the air con fixed on the truck now so can at least get across the plains without melting inside - lol. All well this side, moved house late last year so been a bit busy with that and dog number two as well. Loads of change in retirement!!!

MSG3:

The secret of great Fish & Chips is, pan to plate & eat straightaway.

Fried fish has a shelf life of no more than 10 minutes in my hot box (no pun intended!)

Happy chip eating

We always used to use Fishtiko in Larnaca whenever we were picking up at the airport, sadly it changed hands and is now quite frankly awful. Anyone recommend anywhere in larnaca?
