hi david

there are a few options you can go for, digiturk which the min monthly payment is 22.90ytl (£10) you get a few english channels but can be quite repetitive, the next is sky if you wanted bbc & itv you will need over 4mt dish which can be quite expensive but if your not that bothered bout bbc and itv then 1.8mt will surfice to get chan4-5 and sky 1,2,3,movies and sports but again this is a monthly fee,the other option is the dreambox system the box is connected to the internet to crack the codes of the pay per view channels the set up on this can be quite expensive and again u have to pay a monthly fee you do get quite a few channels, and the other option is to get the system which i speak about where u buy the sat box aswell as having a couple of dishes installed once done u contact me and ill send u software to open around 40 english channels and also ill set the box up for u thru skype for a fee but no monthly fees, hope this helps if u need any more info contact me

Can reccommend ukturk - he tried his best to get things sorted for us (over and above beyond what we had agreed) and although we had problems (with Tektan only and their install - not Ercan (ukturk) ) with the specific package we wanted - the system he refers to is a good one.

Mind you it costs you bloody (sorry !) loads in Worcester sauce !!!!

He must be owed loads of drinks here in TRNC for his help - cheers and thanks Ercan.

hi david

hope you got the money to burn!!!! lol

you are talking about a couple of grand to set it up, if you only want itv channels and bbc aswell as chan4 and 5 and few others all you will need is the sky box and a free to view card (most old subscription cards turn to freeview card anyway) if you want the subscritions channels then you have to pay accordingly hope this helps

regards

david,

If you go for the big dish, speak to Mustafa (iceman 0533 861 0329 or skycyprus@gmail.com ) for installation, he normally has a couple in stock, comes with lifetime warranty, and this time of year he can usually install within a few days.

Plan it carefully as the LNB has 4 connectons so you can have it in more than one room, and he will pull the cables through any existing terestrial co-axial pipes.

Bring boxes from UK, the older ones work the best, and you need the freeview card for C5 and I tkink C4.

Don't get any of the new type boxes that have all the freeview in them, the older Pace and Amstrad boxes work better with a weak signal.

Also, if you want a great phone system, local UK number etc, drop me an email, then if you want you connect the sky plus etc as you have the Uk number.

One way to maybe reduce the dish costs is connect up with a neighbour maybe.

Cheers

Brian

UKTurk,

Salam

we have a Turkish box and 2 dishes on roof. We were receiving Turksat and Hotbird. Since the renumbering we have lost Hotbird and only get Turksat now.

Which by the way cost us about 250 YTL for all including 80YTl for man to fit it all!!!

Can you help me get Hotbird back and maybe some more english channels? I had BBC Prime, Islam Channel, BBC news before.

Thanks

david

what brian says is correct the older sky boxes are so much better than the new ones for fringe reception like the pace ds430n and the panasonic dsb20 and 30 but the later suffers from overheating and breaks down easily, the 4 port lnb brian is talking about can be very expensive and also the signal strength suffers a bit too the make you need is invacom its the best on the market

hope this helps

I have a Sky plus box (with card) idling back in the Uk since I stopped paying my subscription. Would that work here with a 1.8m dish?

ukturk

we are fed up with digiturk.

we have a sky box and card from the uk.

what sort of system can you recommend?

we only have dial up internet in our village and we are on the backside of the mountian facing the south.

will a 1.8 dish do for us?

because it gets quite windy up here in the winter, we are a bit worried about a larger dish taking off.

have seen water tanks come off roofs here!

please help before i go crazy watching another repeat of master chef!

firestarter

to tell u the truth if you dont get a sky subscription a 1.8mt dish just for the free view channels is pointless cos all u will receive is chan4 (signal weak) chan5 sky 3 sky news and a few others

your best bet for all round general entertainment channels is to go for the system i go on about you dont need a internet connection or a big dish

if you need any further info feel free to email me

hi ukturk

Not got enough whatevers to see your email address so obviously can't do this direct. Have digiturk (groan) maybe turn tv on once a week fed up with paying and never watching. Need both Turkish and English channels what do u suggest for free once initial payment for set up is paid.

Hi Erkan

Need to contact you when you are back in Turkey, but have misplaced your e-mail. If you will be back on Skype, then no problem - will contact you that way. Thanks

Hi Erkan

We have 2 dishes and receiver which were recommended by you last year from Tektan. Can you let us have your english bank details in order to pay money in so that you can give us the software to install and open the extra channels, together with your email address mobile number or skype in order that we can speak to you to install the relevant software. We will be out there on 1 Feb 09.

Hi Erkan

Sky are REALLY peeved off with he loss of revenue from the card sharing dreambox NDS "hackers".. We can expect new SKY cards to be issued this year and probably plenty of ANGRY people who paid for a white elephant..

Sorry, but new sky receivers are generally far better at fringe reception of low freq - e.g BBC/ ITV/ C4, etc stuff on Astra 2D.. if your clients go for a big dish this is more important.. the panny 30 is a good box if on a big dish.. gets upset since a s/w update thre years back as an eeprom chip overheats if it can't find the default transponder ..

on a 1.8 m the "few others" include CNN, BBC news 24 ( from there you can go interactive and watch many BBC1/2 sports progs and and Final score - all afternoon !.. and don't forget most BBC radio stations are now receivable on a 1.8m dish in CY.. sadly NOT radio five.

Can you still get C4 in Cyprus on a 1.8m dish.. I thought it had moved to Astra 2D to the "old" ITV Anglia transponder ?

I don't think the record facilities on your Sky plus box would work unless the card was reactivated.

MM

yes C4 is now on 2D.

W?hich freesat HD can we receive on a 4.2
