My old faithful 20D has shocked me by giving me an error 99 (Serious me thinks!) Is there a camera dealer selling/repair shop in the North?

I don't know about the North, but there is definitely one on the south. If you need directions to it, just ask.

when I'm not mistaken there could be many reasons for the error 99 ... maybe there are some "first aid" tips in there ;-)

Thanks highnoon. I spent most of Wednesday afternoon going through richardsnotes. Tried all the suggestions to no avail and have come to the conclusion the shutter mechanism has gone awal!

Have you tried Yucel Photography few doors down from HSBC in Girne. They sell Canon cameras and so might be able to help.

Hi Nick, I have an EOS30D and had an error 99 last year. It turned out to be a fault with the lens and it was not worth the cost of repairing through a UK dealer it so I purchased a new lens. Do you still get the error when you change lenses?

richb, yep i tried everything! I only use Canon lenses so its not a missmatch thing either. From all the info i've read (And thats a lot!) its definitely the shutter mechanism!

Back again! Had no joy in finding a canon dealer here but was given a number in Lefkosa but It don't work and get a pretty female recorded voice speaking in turkish! the number I have is 2274779, so I presume part of it is missing. Can anyone please help with the missing numbers?
