We have just moved into our new build apartment at Alsancak, brilliant apartment, but the only furniture we have is a table and 2 chairs lent to us by our builder, and some very uncomfortable turkish type beds. So we are looking for beds, sofas, tables, chairs, curtains etc, etc etc. Very eerie in an almost empty apartment - the echos are so bad that when we talk normally we can't understand each other. We have to get to within 6 ft of each other and talk softly. Please help. Call Dave on 0533 8378029 or Email tunemycar@btconnect.com Dave & Paula

As there are those that are selling up & leaving the island, you could have a look at the auctions. Amanda's usually has some good stuff at reasonable prices. http://www.cypyp.com/amandas.htm

Thanks everybody for your input. We went to Amandas today, the trip was more than justified by the antics of the floor staff displaying the auction items, which gave us a good laugh. It is true that the quality of some of the items left a lot to be desired, but there was still enough good quality stuff to be had. We will visit many of the other places suggested this week. In response to Cooper's query our apartment is just off the Girne/Lapta main road, opposite to the Camelot beach access road. It looks like a building site at the moment because it is one - ours is the only finished apartment there. This might be an advantage because the builders are there all the time to hopefully sort out the snagging. We are probably being a bit naive here, time will tell. Thanks again for all of your responses. Dave & Paula

We struggled to find a good matress, not the usual hard Turkish style, but we found one at Homefront. They have a good selection to suit all tastes and we are reall pleased with ours, it sooooo comfortable.

Hi Peeky - we have a holiday apartment near to yours in Alsancak. Don't know what style of furniture you are looking for, but do try Botanica, now situated on the Catalkoy road - right hand side not long after the turning for The Fez. Very large shop over two floors, sell just about everything and staff are very helpful and friendly. Owner is a London born GC and all staff are great. We ended up getting everything from them - prices are reasonable. Hope you find what you're looking for! J
