Forget it unless you are prepared to lose the car! They are certainly much cheaper on the other side but unless you have official permission to use the vehicle in the north you will run into trouble with the customs. As, according to your profile, you are a student, I can't imagine any good reason why you would be given permission. There were a lot of GC registered cars here 2 or 3 years ago and the customs went around picking them up eventually. You might get away with it for a while but, no guarantees.

Whay would it have been a 'free gift' to a 'TC'? You people must think you are the cleverest on planet. Why don't you buy PROPERTY IN THE SOUTH?Is it because it is not cheap?Or is it beacuse it is easier to blame your stupidness on others?

The car would be a gift to the TRNC because as he won't have paid TRNC car tax, road tax, import duty, registration tax, etc, they would confiscate it. Geoff Famagusta City

why wpould it be a gift to trnc? Beleive it or not the 2 parts of my country are classed as 2 different countries.Being in full knowledge of that fact, one needs to make ones mind up regarding where/what part of the island one wants to live/stay. An eleven year old car can only be imported if it had been in the owners name for minimum of 5 years. And the cost of importing it would depend on make, model, petrol, diesel, engine size,european/japanese. So cut the story short, you are enquiring in wrong place.I'd very much doubt you finding someone on here that works for the customs.
