I've lived here several years but have only recently been made aware I have not seen sea gulls. What is the reason or am I just not opening my eyes to the obvious?

I noticed that when I lived there, but nobody seemed to know the answer.

There are 1 or 2 and also a few terns. But the Med is pretty dead at this end and there is little for them to eat.

There are in fact 9 species of seagull in cyprus, cant say I've seen any of them though:

perhaps the pickings are so rich around the tips that they never bother to fly!

Im so SO glad there are no seagulls.

I used to associate the sound of them with holidays and ice-creams and caravanning with my grand p's when I was a kid.

7 years living on the Essex coast made me see the other side of them.

Nesting on the roofs and pooing like there is no tommorrow.

Watching two or three of them take down smaller birds in flight! Horrible!

Babies squawking 24/7 while mum and Dad are trying to smash open shell fish on your conservatory roof and pooing

So brave I've seen them snatch icecream from childrens hands and pooing

ripping open black bin bags and leaving rubbish strewn all over the road..and pooing

Padding around on the roof from 4 in the morning calling to each other and...

Having to soak the dried on p.. from your car paint work so you can get it off without damage.

Having to wash your sheets again cos they spot them and go 'whoo hoo, time for a p..'

We do have seagulls here but they are disguised as pigeons as they do most of the above.
