I'm sure most of you will know the sign I mean - when driving from Lefkoşa and descending the main road over the mountains you see the exit sign, which shows Girne as being straight on and the exit being right for Alsancak/Lapta/Karaoğlanoğlu. Even though I'm sure this hasn't caused a problem for 99.9% of people driving along the road for the first time ... ie. they were able to work out that Alsancak etc is straight on and for Girne one should exit left ... one has to wonder why such a sign was made. Maybe though, it was done delberately because it was felt that the majority of traffic would exit at that junction. Any thoughts?

They have no idea about adequate road signs but that's part of the charm.

I hope they correct it rather than put up another one. I have lost count of the number of junctions that I arrive at with the intention to turn right but with no clear sight of oncoming traffic from the right due to road signs/advertising boards etc being sited right at the mouth of the junction. To make it a little more dangerous these are often accompanied by an overgrown hedge/tree or two. At night the very large advertising boards seem to be so close to the street lamps that they completely stop or severely negate the level of light which actually reaches the roads ! Knowing that these junctions are also viewed by many as a suitable place to park a vehicle it does make it a valid point to say "drive very carefully"
