I'm not sure if anyone can help me with this, but any comments appreciated. I'm looking to book a holiday to TRNC departing 03-04/09/11, and have found a Larnaca flight through Greeen Island Holidays. Have stayed at Oscars, and Green Holiday Village in the past. However one of the properties on offer is Karpaz Arch Houses, which seems to be some sort preservation site/village. Can't seem to find anything about it on the net. Went out to the Karpaz last time I was there, so know the area is quite isolated. We like a drink in the evening, often till quite late, so don't want to be stranded in the middle of no where Anyone know anything? Cheers

The best advice is: Don't ignore the British & Commonwealth Office advice on property 'acquisition' in Cyprus - North or South - Google it! You'd better seriously check this out before committing to purchase! Failure to do so is liable to cause you much 'wailing and gnashing of teeth'!

Would recommend the pia bella hotel, stayed there about 5 or 6 times. On the east side of town (Girne), bars and restaurants within walking distance. Hotel prices are good as well. Highly Recommended, good luck. Rod

TonyM. We have stayed at the Arch Houses several times when the tarrif was very reasonable and included breakfast. We believe the property is a former Monastry. The accommodation is basic stone build and rustic. The units are mainly large and spacious with showers and air conditioning. Adjacent is a restaurant within the complex which at one time only served Cypriot fare but by all accounts of friends is now far more touristic catering for most tastes and a chef is employed. We have always experienced a friendly and enjoyable time there with both staff and visitors. Free drinks after evening meals have been by the bottle rather than the tot but there was an escort/carry you to your room service !!!

No1Doyen/Mistymoppet/Msg 6&7: Knowing the predilection tourists have for the 'impulse purchase' of property in Cyprus, I merely intended to insert a timely reminder!

Thanks for all the replies, an apologies for the delay in replying. I've not contacted Green Island Holidays about this yet, I thought I try and get some local info first. Pia Bella through Cyprus Premier was my first option precisely for the reasons given by Bigrod, but there's no availably at the moment it would seem. It would seem the place may be better as a retreat, or when visiting Karpaz. I’ll look closer to Kyrenia, or perhaps Alsancak/Lapta way. Tenakoutou: Thanks for the warning, I am about to finish at work and may be looking for somewhere, but not on this vacation. However one of my old bosses did buy a place in the TRNC, and had terrible trouble. She cut her losses and came back to the UK in the end. If I did contemplate such I move I’d definitely be back on here asking for some straight advice, even if that was don’t do it. And no I wouldn’t buy a dog. Many thanks again

Talk to tom at IAH (flightholiday on here) he might be able to help and give a good deal too. Last week he gave me a first week September 9 day stay in Lapta with flights etc at £470 each (which I thought was good)

Cheers, I'll have a look. Might leave it till later in the autumn when flight prices have calmed down a bit. Wish I'd booked the Pia Bella now whilst it was on special offer with Cyprus Premier. Thanks to Geylag for the link, it was better then any I found whilst looking. I’ll definitely take a look iat the place if I get over this year.
