There have been reports in the Turkish papers this week with concerns about Kofali construction. It seems that they owe lots of money to lots of people, cheques bouncing and the lefkosa office closing. This all happened at the time when the family left the island for a holiday to Australia.

The main story was in tuesdays edition of Afrika.

Just a quick update Erdim Kofali contacted the newspaper and said that if he had not left the island he or his family would have been shot. He also said that he has never let any of his customers down and he is planning on coming back in 1 years time to pay everyone that he owes money to. This was taken from Afrika newspaper.

Its good to know that he will be coming back in a years time to pay everyone he owes money too.

However if he fled to avoid being shot I see little likelihood of him returning and placing himself in the same position. Perhaps he should contact everyone he owes money to and arrange to pay by bank transfer from wherever he will be residing!!!

Who was it now that kept recommending this building company? It would appear that even the locals don't know who is honest and reliable. What chance have most foreign buyers?

The list of rogue builders grows longer every week.

Pity about that, they were one of the better building firms. they were organised, trade followed trade and houses built on time to a fairly good standard. They built six near me and nice houses they are. I think that the problem was, they just kept building and ran out of purchasers.

Kofali Construction and Ali & Omer Kofali Homes Ltd are still trading. They have no connection to Erdim Kofali which is a completely different company. There was an announcement, in Turkish, to this effect in the Kibris newspaper yesterday which I have a copy of should anyone wish to see it (can scan and email).

Thanks for pointing out the difference Geomin and Sal, i was surprised as i always thought the houses they built looked good. Hopefully the bad press that Erdim is getting does not cause the others any problems.

"back in a year to pay everyone that he owns money to.." Yea, sure... just like Sabena Coulter of North Cyprus Rentals, the silence will be deafening and the cash not forthcoming !!!! Wait and see , rather wait and don't see !!!!!!

I suggest the administrators amend the title of this thread ASAP to avoid any further damage to Kofali Construction and Ali & Omer Kofali Homes Ltd. It needs to be clear which company is being referred to.

Hi All

We purchased a property from Kofali Construction 4 years ago in Alsancak and have nothing

but praise for the company and all staff we dealt with especially Ekrem. The property was completed

to a high standard ahead of schedule ready to move into on day of key release.I spent the last 30

years in the U.K.selling new homes so I was more than able what to check for on completion.

Keep up the high standards.

May I re-iterate most of what Msg 16 is saying.

Yes we (My partner and I ) have had no problems with Ekrem and his co-workers at Kofali Construction what so ever and have always been treated with respect and punctuallity (A rare thing here).

If these things are being reported in the local (Turkish) papers, Why does Cyprus Today and other English reporting newspapers not report the same information for us all to read??????

cassius;

It was simly an advert that was put in turkish paper/s,and also simply not thought of putting it in english paper as well.

I sometimes do wander what the national language is in this part of Cyprus.
