We brought our car over from Uk with us and would appreciate advice on what car insurance to get. We are getting mixed advice and a wide range of quotes from insurance offices. Is Comp insurance a waste of space, some people tell us it would not pay out anyway so is third party our most realistic option. Any information provided would be most welcome.

jardap i think full comp is expensive here and there is a maximum payout in the event of an accident. which is not enought to cover replacing your car if the worst happens. we only have third party and own 2 new cars.

Any import tax to pay on your car?....does it need some form of road tax. Am thinking about driving down my car next summer, suppose if I leave it untill NC is in the EU...I will have freedom to take my car where-ever. If I leave my UK car in the south when I am in the UK...I suppose I can travel North / South when ever, providing I have insurance? any thoughts / advice?

stewart the rules are complex. both south and north. we brought our car here a few years ago and the tax was 12k. my advice is sell your car in the uk and buy one here. regarding the south you will need to buy extra insurance to travel from the north to south. leaving it there is another matter because i believe it can only be there on an english number plate for a short amount of time. you may run into trouble with that idea. to register it in the south you need an address and bills in your name ect. very complex and lots of agro if you get it wrong. good luck.

Go to First Consult Cyprus they deal with Credit West Bani insurance and are very helpful. Good prices too. Third Party and collision would be your best bet.
