Do banks in TRNC charge for using debit cards to withdraw cash?

First of all, apologies if this topic has been covered, but so far I have only found postings from people using a debit card issued in the UK.



Many people arriving in Karpaz Gate Marina have a Debit Card which is in Euros.



Our question is this ........



Does the TRNC bank with the ATM also make a charge for the transaction?

Using bank Of Scotland/Halifax Nationwide debit card withdrawing sterling from HSBC no charge

Santandre Abbey National Alliance and Leicester debit card withdrawing sterling from HSBC CHARGE

If you withdraw lira or foreign currency or pay for goods and services there is a charge Also you loose on the exchange rate

However, what we all need to know is if we use a debit card to withdraw cash from a TRNC bank (ie a local bank, not HSBC) will the local bank levy a charge on the transaction?



I am writing on behalf of people who have a Euro Debit Card issued in their home country (eg Germany, France) and want to withdraw Turkish Lira from the ATM.

Hi, The TRNC banks wil not make a charge for you to withdraw TL because you will be drawing local currency. It will be your own bank that charges commission when they debit your account with the transaction and you will also notice that you will get a slightly less favourable rate.

Was your Electron Visa a debit or a credit card I have not been charged for cash withdrawals from HSBC on Halifax /Bos debit card
