Beware some anti-insect sprays can make this worse. Make sure she stops using those and good luck clearing the heat rash. I used Magicool sprays and eurax to alive symptoms in the past.

I have been told it can be caused by blocked pores, particularly if lots of skin cream and suntan lotion are being used, and that a Turkish bath is a very effective remedy.

I treated with scepticism advice that the powder for Athletes Foot was a certain cure for prickly heat. However, it worked almost instantly for the Wildebeest (bless her), and also for several of our visitors over the last year or two. The best method seemed to be to keep the infected area as dry as possible but covered with loose clothing to avoid "chaffing". Apply powder liberally. Whatever you choose, the best of luck !

Hi Have suffered from prickly heat for years. I take one Zircon tablet for 2 weeks before I come out to Cyprus and one every day while I'm there and use piz baun (spelling) allergenic and then use avon so soft which has the added bonus of keeping mozzies away!! Still get a bit of a rash but it isn't itchy.

Mine too! For the first few years we took her over to the doctor next to Jasmine Court who gave her the jab - an expensive option but definitely worked. The chemist in the block in Chakaltoy where Mardos is does have the same anti histmanine which you can buy over the counter and inject yourself - would imagine a lower dose of the same thing but worth a try. The turkish bath bit does sound sensible but it's the scrub part of the treatment that is beneficial - Veronika's in town will do the scrub treatment without the whole massage thing. Otherwise spread yogurt on the affected area for relief. Good luck - I know how much it can destroy the holiday for the whole family.

Put some Lavender oil in her bath or mix it with a basic cold cream, works great and will help her relax
