They would have been killed for doing something like this, if it was the old TC culture! Now we have the mixed culture with Gacos, nothing surprises me!

Now if this happened in the UK the victims of the beating would not only allocated a single cell but would be given leave (and financial and legal aid) to sue the authorities.

They would have quite correctly been award a sizable chunk of compensation.

Of course.

The authorities (in the UK that is) have a duty of care and if they fail in anyway then they have to pay the price. In nearly all instances the original offence is not related to the failure (shall we say the prison service as an example) of the authorities, and the compensation is judged accordingly.

It may not be perfect, but it keeps everyone on their toes.

Quite often the police arrests the suspects and then try to obtain the necessary evidence for a conviction by beating them up. This is wrong. They try to compensate their lack of training or intelligence by these methods. We should not be complacent about such practices.

In this particular instance the police has the evidence as recorded on the mobile phone but I suppose they wanted to get the fine detail plus I suspect that they enjoy the beating up. I suppose it makes a change from beating up their wives. We are now dealing with people with such a cultural background.

It is really up to our judges and the doctors to understand their own responsibilities to the public and act properly. In this particular instance the judge acted properly and ordered an examination at the state hospital in the presence of their advocates but the doctor did not allow the advocates to be present during the examination.

....Thank goodness the Jack Reagan syndrome has been eliminated in the UK.... I disagree

I liked the Sweeney, the immortal words " Your nicked "

We could do with a few more Jack Reagan types to sort out the yob and looters that we have in the UK.

Too many do gooders and bleeding hearts nowadays. IMO

Message 14 - The Parson - Yes, you should!

Just found out that the human being who raped, then murdered, my cousin in 1983, was convicted of raping a customer of the Women's Hairdressing Salon, which he had been working in, in 1995, as part of his "Preparation for Release".

Don't suppose you were involved in designing this "Preparation for Release" programme, were you?

If not, then I sincerely apologise for being guilty of mistakenly stereo-typing you as a fine example of the malaise tha apparently has inflicted many of the more-inteligent members of our wider Society - most of whom are now enjoying their publicly-funded pensions in the sun, while doing a PhD with the Open University.

There I go again! More stereo-typical ranting!

Britain is a cess pit of crime, rape, drugs and lawlessness but lets not punish the perpetraters too hard eh.

Duty of care my arse, they also have a duty of care to protect the general public also.

You are right Paul. Agree totally, and the parents of young offenders should be made to pay for damage done by their children. Maybe they would make sure what they were up to then.

Turtle - get a grip!!

Stop reading the daily mail.

England is still a country full of decent people and is generally law abiding and one of the best in the world.

Do not let the minority spoil it for every body else.

Of course there are lawless cretins and drug related crime as in most countries.

Look at the USA as an example but they don't go around knocking their country!!

I dont comment on the case in question or criminal law in North Cyprus because I dont know all the facts. But Iagree with Parson re UK

It is the duty of the Police to solve crimes and catch the criminal and present evidence

It is the duty of the Courts to try the accused on the evidence and if found guilty to sentence him

It is the duty of the prison service to ensure the Courts verdict is carried out correctly.

Neither the Police nor prison service have the right to punish the criminal and they have a duty to protect him from harm while he is in their custody.

Otherwise you have a police state!

The problem in the UK is that the Police and Prison service along with a large section of the public no longer trust the Courts to impose appropriate sentences and compensation to "injured" criminals has been so out of proportion to their "injuries" let alone the sufferings of their victims that confidence in the system is eroded and t tempation is to take the law into their

Stereo-typing is a very dangerous thing and is one of the reasons why there are so many claims\instances of abuse against the individual.

Message 18 is a classic example whereby everyone involved with the system gets tarred with the same brush.

Over 95% of my projects never saw a court room, nor was a solicitor involved, it was really all about trying to put a lid on the mistakes the employer made in relation to the employees\individuals rights. Yes large payments were made by the guilty party, but hardly anything was published regarding the outcome due to confidentiality clauses in the settlements.

Elko2, a good example of police brutality, a couple of months ago a young man was arrested regarding the rape of a 11-14 yr old, he was tortured, a police baton was shoved up his rear causing a rupture in his colon. He now has to wear a colostomy bag..

He was cleared of all charges..

how about that example huh? If that was any other country the police would be sued for millions.

Innocent until proven guilty.

I cant get the link in the original post - says its a "malformed or illegal " request!!!!! and I havent seen the report

However, one point does occur to me. If the boy friend/brother/police were near enough to photograph the attack why the **** did they not stop it?

Message 24 : I said "OTHERWISE you have a Police state" ie if Judiciary, Police , Prison officers have absolute powers with no right of appeal against them, Freedom, including freedom to appeal and/or protest does come at a price and maybe that price is that the guilty sometimes get away with things they shouldnt.t

The rapists filmed the attack so that they could humiliate the victim further by posting it on Youtube.
