Smudge is a 2yr old liver and white pointer type spayed bitch who is looking for a new home. Due to serious illness and personal problems I have to leave TRNC next week. She is a beautiful loyal loving dog who is a little wary of strangers but is a very good guard dog. If you can help or if you know someone who can take in this ex street dog as I did then please call 0533 8333181. Anyone's circumstances can change in life as mine have so please please think seriously about helping this beautiful creature who came to me nearing death 18 months ago, I nursed her back to health and have been rewarded many many times over. All this dog needs is a chance and the stress of trying to rehome her is adding to the stress I am under already. Please no cruel or silly posts, just some useful help. Thank you in anticipation.

Thanks TRNC victim she truly is, maybe one of your friends here would consider giving her a home. I am sending out my thoughts to the good people of TRNC and asking them to find a place in their garden and hearts for my beautiful girl.

You must be devasted having to leave Smudge behind - is there no possibility of taking her with you, I believe the regulations are changing next year? Best of luck in finding her a home and hope you can resolve your health and personal problems.

Thank you all so very much, I need to leave next week so cannot bring her with me. I am so pleased that the regulations are changing in December so we animal lovers will not have to be without our little friends. Smudge seems to know that something is amiss and is looking a bit soleful as I type this post. I am confident that there is someone out there who can find a corner of their garden and their heart to this great lolloping bundle of fun and loyalty. Here is hoping my prayers are answered.

I seriously don't know, I cannot sleep, eat or anything else. I am considering trying to find a vet who might help out (the big sleep), what else can I do? Do I just open the gates and let her roam around when I leave for UK? This is a cautionary tale to anyone who takes in a stray dog, think very hard about it. My personal situation has changed dramatically since I came here, this can happen to anyone. As I explained before this special dog was on the point of death when she adopted me. I could and maybe should have shooed her away, but I didn't. She has been my inspiration in my down times and has lifted my spirits more than any human I have ever know in my entire life. Just hoping for the best in the next few days. My number is 0533 8333181.

If not please don't turn her on to the streets, I know it's hard but the vet would be the kinder option. I hope you find a good Samaritan. Sorry I can't help we have three dogs already, two of them rescue dogs.

another sad tale but why did you leave it so late before you came on to try to find her a home? It is so difficult to re-home these dogs but not impossible. This is made harder by the lack of time. Having said that, I hope you solve your own problems and manage to find a home for, what sounds like a really lovely dog. If all else fails, are there neighbours who would consider dog share?

Rowan, I have been trying for some time to re-home Smudge and my situation has recently become worsened thus my appeal on this forum. The fostering option is a good idea but my immediate neighbours are all either Turkish or Cypriot families with small children who as we all know think every dog is going to eat them alive!!!!! Anyway here's hoping! Again thank you all so very much for your support it is making a heartbreaking time feel a little less lonely.

It still takes a lot of time and jabs etc have to be given a specific number of weeks before transit, then there is the case of trying to find a place on a plane. Then you have to get the dog from Ercan to Istanbul, then over to France and then the necessary jabs have to be given in France and the results waited for, then you have to get the dog over from France to UK. It all takes a lot of time and not an inconsiderable amount of money (all this to avoid quarantine in the UK which is very expensive). The dog has to be accompanied so if you can't do it yourself then you would have to pay someone to fly with it, paying for their overnight accommodation in France and then their flight back to Ercan again. That's my understanding of the situation but KAR can give you the exact procedure, give you pretty accurate costings and arrange the paperwork. Unfortunately time is not on your side now. I do wish you all the luck in the world with her though.

thank you all so very very much and moxie thank you for your offer. Excellent news my darling dog starts her new life with her new mummy this evening. A very special young turkish cypriot woman with a very large heart has offered to take my baby. I need to let you all know that smudge hates travelling in cars but has just jumped into the front seat of my friends sports car with no hesitation and sat like a princess as she was royally driven off to her new home in Girne. Who would have thought it, I can now go to UK to sort out my problems with a clear mind. Thank you again all who posted on cyp44 and a huge debt of thanks to my lovely cypriot friend who has shown me such kindness and understanding. Love and light to you all and goodbye x

So pleased to hear Smudge has found a good home The other dog (Sandy the daschund puppy), is fine. She has settled really well and a helpful vet has confirmed she is very healthy and got round the paperwork problem He will keep an eye on her (as he does my other 2 dogs) and spay her at the approriate time. She enjoys playing with my spaniel and they have great games chasing round the garden which keeps them both excercised. She has demolished most of his toys (as well as a slipper, a hairbrush and several reels of cotton) but that is puppies for you,, and he has been very patient. The older bitchis a bit jealous but I dont think it will be long before Sandy has us all wrapped round her little paws. She had her first lesson at walking on the lead round the garden this afternoon - not quite got the idea yet, but she is willing to learn. I will try and find someone with the right kind of camera to take some pics (she is such a cute puppy) and post them here.
