Stayed at the Beach Albatros near old Sharm . Very clean , good food , nice private beach and good facilities . Would recomend old Sharm area over Nama Bay area quieter and better beaches only a few pounds away from Nama by taxi .

I stayed in the Hiton Fayrouz, Nama Bay, twice and was very impressed on both occasions, once in a single chalet and once in a poolside family bungalow.

Take a look on the web at the Baron. An older hotel but low rise and built like a horse shoe around the grounds, which are beautiful. Good beach with swimming on the reef with lots of fishes.

There are plenty of good hotels but I found the main problem being that flying from Larnaca you go to Cairo and then on to Sharma and the connect flight is acceptable but the return flight from Sharma to Cairo the connect flight to Larnaca means a 9 hour wait at Cairo airport!!!Now is this correct or is my travel agent talking a load of bull.He is in Girne and is generally very efficient.

Have just returned from Sharm and its a lovely place but prices are all up on last year, its because of lack of tourists due to instability in Egypt.

Restaurants are very expensive!!

I would suggest a place on RED SEA on Egyptian Coast Ain Al Shokna!

2 hours drive from Cairo and excellent and good prices!

Thanks for the suggestions. The smart a**e remark in message 2 reminds me of why I rarely post on this forum.

A few weeks ago we stayed at The Sofitel Taba Heights Hotel, in Taba all inclusive...absolutely brilliant for a peaceful week.

People we spoke to that had been to Sharm said they preffered Taba 'cos it is quieter.
