has anyone over come this recently?

our son is 17, he doesn't need to do his residency until he is 18, as he is classed as a child right now.

my problem is he works on line and has funds, which he deposits in an old account of mine in the uk . his business is set up in cyberspace and run from a server in the usa.

he can't get an offshore bank account until he is 18.

hence even though he has money, he has no job in the trnc.

how are we going to prove he has funds to live here for his residency application?

we can't claim he is retired at age 18.

any ideas?

open a local bank account and put some cash in it.

You can always show your bank account slips with same surname on them, sureley that would be understood?

A chap I knew here a while back did just that, used his mum's bank accounts for res, they did ask questions the second time but it woirked for a while.

Could you not make the UK account a joint account with his name on it then show those statements for residency purposes?

Just tell like it is, he's living with parents, not yet working, and not looking to work (which he can't without permit) , you'll probably get away with 'living at home with parents' until he's 33.

I would say he will be the envy of most 17/18 year olds - not allowed to work.

As long as you can show ability to fund, no-one will be too concerned.

I'd be interested to know why it would be a problem if he is working for a company that is not located in TRNC. Isn't the point of work permits anywhere in the world to prevent an immigrant taking a job that a local could do. Is that the case here? However, fully understand that the authorities here may not view it that way....and would be looking for some kind of tax contribution.

Would Elko2 know?

If it is a problem I would be tempted to say that he is unemployed and being supported by you rather than saying retired.

I came over at 25 and was able to go on my parents residency. When asked what will i do for money, they just said they would support me. I have a work permit now before anybody asks.

I was told by the police in Girne to go to a Notier (one opposite the court house) or any will do for a signed and stamped letter saying I would be legally and financially responsible for my son while he lived here. It all went through no problem. But beware things have gone badly wrong between my child and me and it has left me in considerable debt.
