How about trying the steel braided plastic covered clothes line?



It's cheap, strong, long-lasting and readily available at most supermarkets - also you won't 'sprag' your hands on it as one so easily can on bare stainless steel cable!

You can get plastic covered steel wire at the Dive Marine Shop in the old harbour next to the mosque. They have it in three or four thicknesses.
