Booked a flight Belfast-Gatwick with Easyjet, paid by debit card was charged £8 for the privilege

Booked Dublin -Ercan with Turkish, paid by credit card, no charge. To me this sounds like extortion on the part of Easyjet, you have to use a card of some sort, there is no facility to pay cash.

They are charging now for debit card bookings - only free one (they are required to offer) is Electron

whatever that is. I prices booking a single from Glasgow to Stansted on-line at £23.99 and they want

to charge me £12.95 a total of £36.94. Extortionate. The return was almost as bad, but because the

return flight leaves me nearly 5 hours wait, I thought about train back, quicker and cheaper.

Ststed. to Ercan didn't charge anything for booking with credit card, and thanks to Tom for his help in

arranging my stop-over in Istanbul on return.

Phyllis Msg 4 - It was a pleasure. Next time maybe we can help with the EasyJet and the Train as you can book them straight off our http://www.flightholiday.co.uk web site.

Out of interest does anyone know what companies are charged by the credit card companies for taking a credit card payment?

This credit card charging has been covered by 'WatchDog' in UK recently.

Many different sectors are adding on this charge for use of various cards.

It's a bit of a scandal.

Namps not a good idea to use a debit card on the internet even on a secure site.

Too much account info is available to those that can use it illegally. Not the same protection as with a credit card.

Get a Halifax online account, they give you an Electron Card. When booking flights I transfer money online to the account and then pay the low-cost airlines with the Electron card, no charges and can do it all in a matter of minutes.

Many airlines now accept payment via paypal. No charges and paypal fully insure your payments.

I know Monarch into Larnaca accept the above so should be worth checking out your choice of airline.
