Last week was a bad week for my internet speed..im paying for 4mb and most of last week i was not getting 2mb or 1mb some of the time.

Yes i did call your customer services and eventually got to talk to one of the staff..she reset the antenna and told me to switch everything off for 5 mins..i did and it was no better.

The start of this week my connextion has been ok..can you tell me if you was having problems last week in the catalkoy area?

Ive been with nethouse now 2 years and have had pretty good service most of the time.

I asked the lady if there was problems..not sure if she understood my question..but told me she would have to reset the antenna.

I could access Iplayer at the weekend without a UK VPN but now it is back to the usual problem. Nethouse, please can you confirm for all of your customers, what we need to do (or what we should NOT need to do!) to be able to view iPlayer (ITV BBC etc). If a UK VPN is needed why not publish a link to instructions on how to obtain this

We've been having problems with our internet for a few weeks now. A technician came on Friday and said he could see that the connection was slow and sometimes non-exsistent but there was nothing wrong with the antenna. He kept suggesting that we are too far away from the base station (we live near Poppin), when we took our subscription with Nethouse they said it would work all the way up to Kucuk Erenkoy, and it has in fact been working great most of the time. The technician passed me his phone and the lady I spoke to at Nethouse told me that Admin would call me by Tuesday to which I assured her that they wouldn't because they never have before when they were supposed to.

Internet still bad, still no phone call. I called again this morning and was told there was nothing wrong with my connection and have been told that Admin are going to call me tonight at 9pm. Watch this space. Same here can't get on to BBCIplayer or ITVplayer either. Took me forever to get on to the forum.

Do you have any idea when this might be fixed?

IF folks can't get the Net house one working you are welcome to try my free one:

User name : Smyth_Mark

password : It's4free

Hostname / IP address: vpnuk.uktvabroad.com

However, if it's an issue with the connection to Turkey then nothing's going to 'help' :(

There is an another ISP, Multimax that offers a built in UK VPN, too - and the owner posted a thread pointing out major connectivity issues resulting in poor performance... so perhaps things will settle down.

Hi Mark tried to set up the free VPN you are good enough to let us use but had the following error :

The remote connection was not made because the attempted VPN tunnels failed. The VPN server might be unreachable. If this connection is attempting to use an L2TP/IPsec tunnel, the security parameters required for IPsec negotiation might not be configured properly.

I have not got a clue what that means!!! any ideas for a novice with computors

Annie for info I just tried Marks VPN and was able to connect without problems.

The first to thing to double check is that you have got the VPN server name correct (vpnuk.uktvabroad.com ). If you have it wrong and it is a non existant address like say vpnuk.uktwabroad.com then you will not get the error message you quoted. However if you have got it wrong and it does happed to still be a valid address like say vpnuk.uktvabroad.org then you will get the same error message you have quoted above.

So check that.

If you are not too far from Girne and want I would be happy to visit and try and help you out in person and in situ (for free). Just email me at erolz@cream.org if you want

Nethouse - it appears that you read these threads so it would be nice if you could answer some of the issues. I have done as you requested - several times emailed you my user name and outline of the issues - several times/called the IT dept - several times/sent you my speedtests etc. Still the only response from you is "please send us your user name" !!!! or "i will pass your detail problems onto the technical people" or just no reply to the emails.

We are due for subscription renewal and i want to know what we have to do to watch BBC/ITV/Ch4/Ch5 - with or without your VPN (as we have our own). We were told 1meg would be fine from you and it was to start with - since changing to your Eko package of 4 meg and downloading your VPN (which doesn't work !) it has been awful. We can only watch BBC Live - not ITV Live/ ITV iplayer is hit and miss and Ch 4 and 5 unwatchable. So i repeat - What do we have to do to watch UK TV (NOT just BBC) ???? Do we have to change package or maybe ISP ?

the2ofus to be as fair as possible to Nethouse, ITV Player, even in the UK with a good solid connection is just not as reliable as BBC Iplayer is. This is almost certainly down to the way these entities are funded. I suspect that the add revenue that ITV get from online viewing just does not cover the costs involved in providing the service. Whilst the BBC is also being squeezed fiscaly in the current climate they have a 'public service' brief for providing content online and an income source that is much more predicable and stable than ITV's. Overall from having used only online UK TV for 2- 3 years now, on two different TRNC net connections, I would say BBC iPlayer is by far and away the most reliable of all the services, followed by Sky Go, then channel 4 and with ITV as the least reliable and especially prone to problems when showing 'high demand' content, like with world cup historicaly and rugby world cup and that upstairs downstairs rip off I forget the name of [cont]

Channel 5 I dont watch often enough to have a view on. I have been trying VIrgin Media player recently and it seems about level with Sky Go, but not used it very much either.

This is not to say that the problems you are having are nothing to do with Nethouse themselves, but it is certainly possible that some of the problems you have are actualy to do with ITV and not Nethouse themselves. The fact that I Player works ok and ITV does not does tend to suggest the problem is from ITV's end rather than Nethouses but thats just an educated guess.

So as previous posts my VPN stopped working

I rang Nethouse and spoke to "option 1" faults the admin person took my user name told me to switch off the computer and reboot in 5 mins

YOU THEN DO NOT USE THE VPN

THE COMPUTER /CONNECTION IS CONFIGURED SO THAT YOU CAN WATCH BBC ITV ETC

MANY THANK NETHOUSE SO SIMPLE TO USE JUST LIKE BEING IN THE UK

if we are asking nethouse questions here directly, I personaly would appreciated a clear explanation of what the differences are between their eko paket products and their standard ones other than price as it is not clear to me from their website.

btw the2ofus if you wanted to try a 'test' with me to try and get a clearler picture of where your problems might be with regards to ITV player, one thing that we could try would be to both watch the same stream at the same time and see if they behave differently on your nethouse connection and my non nethouse connection. In fact I could run the test on two different non nethouse connections , as I currently have two until my old one expires. Anyway if you are interested email me erolz@cream.org or phone me 0392 8155016.

thanks erolz. I have phoned them AGAIN this morning and they are trying to sort the problem. They admit there is a prob with ch4 that they are trying to solve but cannot see why itv will not play live. They now ask me to go onto nethouse.net and do their own "speedtest" - but it will not allow me to click on their speedtest button !!!! I just want to know what i need to do to watch the blummin tv - even if it means coming off the 4 mg Eko package and going onto the other 2mg non Eko package. Subscription renewal is due Monday - which they were keen to point out !

I will probably still give you a ring to do a stream test.
