This doesn't surprise me at all, the same thing happened in Peyia village a few years ago, it is no safer buying South, I watched a Place in the Sun a couple of years ago with that delightful airhead Amanda Lamb, she advised against buying in the North and said stick to the SAFE SOUTH, I rang the programme to speak with her, of course I didn't get that 'privilege' lol.



It is about time the truth was told about the whole of Cyprus.

I freely admit that I used to sit with my Mother on a Saturday evening to watch the Black and White Ministrel Show and neither she nor I or the other 20million considered we were doing anything wrong. My absolute favourite doll was a "gollywog" which comforted me through some very, very hard times as a child and quite a few operations. I adored that doll and was totally devasted when it finally fell to pieces after having been darned dozens of times. I make no apolgies for that.

As someone who has taught Equal Opps, Diversity, Racist Laws, Predjudice, Discrimination within all their glories for over 20 years I think there are a lot of people around who make up their own version of the laws.

I love the current example in the UK

- the Travellers - who are not Travelling but living static, who have breached planning laws designed for everyone (whatever race, creed, sexual orientation or ethnic group they are) are crying Ethnic Cleansing!!!! they are Irish, so that means they can jump on the bandwagon of ethnicity. The state they are travellers but their homes have never moved for 10 years.

Lesson for today - if you spout a law, make sure you know

Which one it is

and how it works!!!!!

Might I add that Diversity also covers sexual discrimination such as making statements about someone because they are female/male. Using derogatory statements about someone because of what the are or what they say comes within this law. Homosexuals, female/male etc etc etc



On a recent visit to the UK I visited the people who are now living in my old house (which I no longer own) they are Indian and have a daughter 4 years old. As she is the only coloured person in the village she was very concern - she need not have worried she has been welcomed (as I knew she would be). We discussed racism and I pointed out a lot of things which have been changed as a result of this i.e. the Gollywog. I explained the origins of the name which is detrime

I explained to her that we all loved our Gollywogs. Another good example is Noddy. The only business man on that she was Mr Golly who owned the Garage and Noddy and Big Ears always used his Garage to get their cars repaired. The took Mr Golly out of the programm - another positve coloured role who everyone loved. They still keep calling the other 'white' guy 'Big Ears'

A few days later I was in Charity shop and I saw a Gollywog. I bought it for Isabelle (the 4 year old indian girl) and she loves it. She takes it everywhere with her and sleeps with it. Too many positives relating to race have been taken out of our world along with the negatives.

The agencies I listed are UK government bodies. They describe in detail offences and actions against Race harassment and victimisation. They are government websites. If anyone feels that comments are racist they can contact them for advise and if need be this body will prosecute. There are several recent cases in the UK press of internet prosecutions for racism.

If as you say nicola you have MANY Cypriot firends! I would be surprised if they read the Trash coming out of your mouth concerning their country and Cypriots as a race, that you would have them as friends anymore! I have read some rubbish on this site over the years, but your posts take 1st place.

I'm going to bed to cuddle my gollywog - he has a lovely black face, with big white eyes and big red lips and lovely woolly hair and I love him to bits.

I used to have a wonderful collection of Gollywogs from the Marmelade jars........ aw I wish I could have brought them to Cyprus with me. Never mind, I shall just cuddle my lovely golly!!!!1

Christ help us all? i have an opinion and totally agree with messages 63 & 64, Britain may not be at all like it was, but i can walk and keep my dogs safely, i work with a great bunch of people which makes going to work a pleasure i have worked for this company since 1979, and my friends are all friends that i can trust with my life, TRNC never again the corruptness and dishonesty digusts me, how many unsuspecting people have been robbed of everything they have worked for, the grass is definately not always greener on the other side. x

I have never tried to stop anyone contributing to this forum, in fact in other posts I have supported those who fall foul of others including "mods". I engaged in robust discussions and arguments with Nicola and if it got out of hand it was not my doing ! it is also strange, that if you were so exercised by this topic that you only chose to engage after nearly 100 posts ! I also find it strange that you don't mention that Simbas deleted her posts because of their racist content ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, not just one ! Nicola got out of the kitchen because she could not stand the heat, She chose to disengage , I didn't force her ! Let her fight her own battles and justify her opinions without resorting to cheap racist epithets !

Yes there is corruption, police brutality, animal cruelty and everything else you have mentioned but i think the same goes for any country in the world.

This is not an ideal world and we cant have everything we want but you choose your own life path and if you are not happy then change it. You may have some valid points but when you start making statements like

There are good and bad in every race in every country and when you realise that then maybe people would listen to your views.

Why are the family of Yuksel Yilmaz (landowner) resident on K5 not worried, answer: nothing to worry about, out of the 13 houses on the site, the two Turkish families related to the landowner Yuksel Yilmaz will keep their ill gotten gains at the expense of the other home owners who actually paid cash money for theirs. Now there is justice in action for you. Given the land as Turkish settlers by the then regime, never cost them anything EVER. Here is the real joke, they now let the hovels they used to live in on the rest of the land given to them. Wonder if they declare the rent for tax purposes. Oh and before anyone says, how do you know? Simple, when these people pretended to be my friends, they told me.
