Bill Cosby:

"I'm 76 and I'm Tired"

I'm 76. Except for brief period in the 50's when I was doing my National Service, I've worked hard since I was 17. Except for some some serious health challenges, I put in 50-hour weeks, and didn't call in sick in nearly 40 years. I made a reasonable salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, it looks as though retirement was a bad idea, and I'm tired. Very tired.

I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it.

I'm tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family "honour"; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren't

I'm tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must let Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries use our oil money to fund mosques and mandrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in Australia, New Zealand, UK, America and Canada, while no one from these countries are allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia or any other Arab country to teach love and tolerance..

I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate.

I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses or stick a needle in their arm while they tried to fight it off?

I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of all parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.

I'm really tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives and actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination or big-whatever for their problems.

I'm also tired and fed up with seeing young men and women in their teens and early 20's bedeck them selves in tattoos and face studs, thereby making themselves un-employable and claiming money from the Government.

Yes, I'm damn tired. But I'm also glad to be 76.. Because, mostly, I'm not going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for my granddaughter and her children. Thank God I'm on the way out and not on the way in.

Well, although i'm not 76....(and for the smart alecs...no where near it) I think that living to 76 (and more) is quite exciting! This last 100 years or so has seen such incredible changes some good, some bad. Every century has it's own set of problems! I think you should change the Tired attitude to a Wow, I Lived Through That Time! If you could go back to anytime in history, and ask a passerby on the street, i absolutely guarantee that the person you stop and talk to will have a similar story! No one thinks they are living in Eden...but everyone wants to!

There is no such thing as an Eden...so, stop bloody moaning and deal with what cards you got....personally, i am chuffed to bits that i am living through such radical times....60's, 70's 80's (seriously bad year for fashion) 90's and the 00's.....you may not like it, but instead of hating it...appreciate it for what it's worth!

So don't be tired...it's not worth the energy!

There is always someone else who has it harder!

I thought it was a bit funny seeing it was Bill Cosby an American millionaire who thought this way. But I have to take issue with you, If we all stopped moaning and lived with the cards dealt to us, we would still have slavery, live in caves and die from some awful disease before 30, if we were lucky.

Not Bill Cosby.

Some prankster took a portion of text from a commentary called I'm Tired written by blogger Robert Hall and credited to the famous comedian.

Hi Tonyta...i didn't say lay down and take it...i simply said deal with it and move on! Those folk that helped abolish slavery didn't sit moaning at a keyboard...those folk that discovered antidotes of life threatening illnesses didn't have the luxury of moaning on a bulletin board...those people got off their arses and did something!! So, although i know you didn't write your post, it bothers me that you obviously sympathised with their sentiments, i just felt the need to point out that even though at some times in life it seems like you are spitting in the ocean, it really is worth the fight! There is the old adage 'These things are meant to try us'...perhaps it should be changed to say 'these things are sent to push us'!
