"is there a difference between Northeners and southerners" Yes, northerners are all poor and live in shit-holes and southerners are all rich and live in palaces ... What a very silly thread...

Im a southerner, nothing against the northerners, also its not racism to not understand each others ways.... fact... I still have difficulty understanding the lingo, exactly the same a Northerner has difficulty with some of the district accents here in the West country...

Im a scot, but lived most of my married life in London.I do find in Scotland the people are much more welcoming and friendlier, especially in the shops.London has become quite a cold place where nobody seems to trust anyone.

John C has either got engaged or married someone almost 40yrs younger than himself, hence his latest tour called "The Alimony Tour" so, no need to spell it out what he's thinking with these days I guess !! I used to enjoy the odd night out in C.London, not any more, too many Russian accents and I don't mean Anna Kornakova's

vonny; Try a Saturday night in Glasgow with an English accent, it's not fun. Scots are lovely people but inherently racist towards the English (in Scotland) In England the Scots have no problem. Before it kicks off, I'm the son of Scots with a marvellous Scots family. This is a dumb thread.

Take as you find! that's the best way to be when meeting people from all over. I have noticed, in recent years, that so many people from different regions move about and live outside their place of birth etc that regional accents have been distorted with a fusion of other accents that have been picked up. Its quite interesting to listen to and quite often not so hard to understand as the accent is not so pronounced.

Newscoop: Used to go to to Glasgow quite regularly had relatives in Giffnock, had some great times there, and survived a hogmonay without any trouble. The Jocks are great people some of the friendliest on earth. Mind you i come from Barnsley, does that count as English?...lol.

| I come from the north east of England and as an earlier poster stated the folks are really friendly. We lived in London for several years with hubbies job and I can honestly say I hated every minute of it. The shop assistants are so rude and nobody has any time to be nice, even the doctors were aggresive. I couldn't wait to move to sunny Cyprus, where I know everything is not perfect, I am not wearing blinkers but at least I feel safe walking the streets and the majority of expats and locals are friendly.
